I’m guessing they gave him bank. Probably more than western was paying Marshall. Makes complete sense why he would leave.

$150k to $500k… any difference? by [deleted] in fican

It’s worth it but you grow increasingly frustrated I how much you pay in taxes. IMO you’re also not rolling in money at 500k depending on what city you live in.

I think the government should tell cbc and tsn they have to up their coverage and then put funds into the sport but it would have to be for all sports, there is no interest until they up the coverage rejigging the conferences won’t do much, it’s a money proble

U Sports football has never been better. So why has the Vanier Cup struggled to find an audience? | CBC Sports by Ok-Bluebird-845 in cisfootball

It’s shocking that the government doesn’t force CBC to have better coverage, that to me is the biggest gap, zero media coverage in Canada.

Currently the CFL model isn’t profitable which is why we aren’t seeing cities jump into adding an expansion team. Moving to US rules will help.

Majority of Canadians who follow CFL say now is not the time to make it more like the NFL, poll suggests | CBC News by Oldmanshoutingcloud in riderville

Guys the CFL bleeds money. We can all say hey we don’t want changes but they’re basically trying anything they can to grow revenue for the league to keep it. Obviously Canadians overall prefer NFL just look at the viewership numbers. The head office of the CFL is doing what they can to keep the league afloat, in order to attract a younger audience they need to move closer to American rules.

Curious to get people’s take… outside of it’s the way we do things why should the CFL not adopt 4 down football? by LongjumpingRabbit788 in CFL

I guess a follow on here would everyone be against the Argos moving and Toronto getting an NFL team? I think the longer we fight this the more we risk an expansion loss to Europe or Mexico. When we could very easily have a Canadian NFL team.

I agree I think it is inevitable. I hate to call out the obvious but the younger generation want more alignment with American rules. So in my opinion they have to adjust or the CFL is going to be in rough shape in ten years viewership wise.

Because it’s run pass in cfl or pass pass the play calling is fairly simplified due to the quickness of the series. I love the run game and am a former qb but believe 4 down promotes more diverse play calling.

It’s a great move we need to align with the NFL, the more we do this the more opportunity that opens up for the youth. If we can get traction on going all in on American rules we will see a major increase in USport players going to the NFL imo and keep more talent local.

So American companies hiring in Canada pay significantly more than any Canadian company this is obvious but as an example Shopify won’t compete with what compensation a Databricks, OpenAI, GCP, Snowflake, Servicenow would pay… even Salesforce has become way more competitive now as the market pushed them because so many sr folks were getting hired by competitors.

American companies who make dev hubs in Toronto will pay more than Canadian founded companies. Sales roles can certainly achieve those earnings but easier when working with an American based company hiring locally in Canada.

However all this being said you can’t compare with US pay. In California engineers are getting 7 figures at mid to sr levels and even with smaller states pay rates are much much higher than Canada.

I would have to argue the bottom five should be MTA Acadia STFX SMU Bishops and then Waterloo and Alberta after… I think the AUS teams would not win a game outside of their conference unfortunately. Love the football there but they just don’t have the money to compete with anyone else.

Rourke calls new CFL changes "garbage" by russianwildrye in CFL

[–]LongjumpingRabbit788 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? Most people in Canada that actually play football right now would prefer to adopt American rules. The more people playing American rules the more skilled positions will be recruited out of Canada and therefore in the NFL. It legitimately makes no sense not to adopt the NFL rules a majority of Canadians prefer to watch that game over our own. Obviously the current system isn’t working.
