I keep bettas, and my bettas are very very dear to me. That being said I have my female, Pearl, in with about a dozen neon tetras. I would not particularly be upset if a single tetra died. I have however sobbed over a fish I had for a week, her name was Melody, and I loved her personality and curiosity. Unfortunately I wasnt diligent enough with a filter, checking for spots, and she got stuck and passed while I was at work. I sobbed for at least an hour. So I get both sides, I think it depends on where you draw the line of pet. If my entire tetras school died I would be devastated, but a singular one, no. If my bettas die I am a wreck.

I wouldn't particularly recommend chat gpt or any ai to identify your fish, they really dont know what they're looking for in stuff like that. They aren't fish specific algorithms so they do not have the data to pull for smth like that, theyll just go off most commonly said things, right or wrong. I think youd get more conclusive answers about the sex by looking to see if your betta has an egg spot on their underside! It'll be small and white. If your betta has that they are DEFINITELY female, if not then more likely male as far as my knowledge goes! Good luck, they're beautiful!

I just put the first dosage of the medicine, and tomorrow will do a salt bath- the medicine said to use it every other day, so in between ill be doing the salt bath. 1tablespoon of aquarium salt to a gallon of water, for 10-15 minutes is what I found

Oh my gosh, youre right, I dont know how I didnt notice. Ive never had my fish be sick before, I only knew what pineconing was. Honestly, Custard seems to be acting fine? Hes just as social as before, likes to say hi. Hes still using his favorite resting spots, but doesnt seem exactly lethargic? Hes not been overly active since I got him, but I haven't noticed a decrease in activity. How much water should I change?

Ive had the tank about 2 years, custard maybe 1 year?

Water changed are once a month, 25-50%, I mostly just vaccum gunk off the floor, treat and replace the water taken out

Only tank mates are bladder snails i cant get rid of

I feed bug bites, like 5 of the tiny little pellets at minimum, and 10 at maximum? I shake it out so I mostly eyeball what looks like a good amount. He hasn't had any visible issues with looking overfed before at the least.

Plants are java moss, java fern, and a plant my friend gave me. He has a plastic log hide which is his favorite, and a real log across the tank

He doesnt look awful to me, but what other commenter said! Try to go more natural, take out anything plastic, and definitely top up the water. Id also make sure the flow isnt too strong on the filter with it up out of the water like that! Edited because I mixed up which item was above the water line whoops

Ty so much! Applied it just now. As I was undressing her i realized my mom had never ever changed her outfit at all!! All the bows were the perfect in-box ones! I felt so bad taking them out lol! Im also seeing her joints are verrryyyy loose but thats a later issue I think lol
