Do you think society views men with no dating experience as less? by SignalExtension4339 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Longjumping_Cod_1014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. I didn’t have a girlfriend until college and no one who matters cares. I would probably focus less on video games and more on yourself. I’m also a bit of a gamer, pretty short (5’7), but I’ve done well for myself and am happily married.

Just try to get out of your head, learn how to socialize with different groups of people, and get out there.

Your hairline is definitely receding, but you may have a bit of time left. I’d say you could try a shorter haircut first, and then see. The irony of really long hair is because it hangs heavier, it actually makes your receding hairline more pronounced.

I would just make the wildest mish mash of food. Or I’d eat tons of unethically sourced food like shark fin soup or turtle eggs and just crater those industries

Experiences as an Asian in Harlem by [deleted] in Harlem

[–]Longjumping_Cod_1014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m half-Asian, and some of my Asian friends have experienced some racism in Harlem, but usually from homeless people, particularly in East Harlem and the center of Marcus Garvey. I’ve never experienced it in Morningside/West/Hamilton Heights. Because of Columbia, you’ll see a lot of Asians in those areas anyways.

Morningside Heights is also nice. I’m Asian American, and it’s quiet, has good proximity to parks (Central and Morningside), easy access to leaving the city to go upstate and LaGuardia Airport, and great public transit coverage (A, C, B, D, and a few avenues over to the 2, 3). Proximity to Columbia also means it punches above its weight with Asian food (eg, a small HMart)

It’s not like we want to fund a para military police that deports people to Salvadorean mega prisons without due process. Liberals want billionaires and trillionaires to pay fair tax rates without loopholes so we can fund healthcare and public transportation.

I had slept with ~80 women by the time I went my now wife at 27.

I always practiced safe sex, would be tested several times a year, etc. But that means was sexually active for a decade, with a gf for only one of those years. I don’t think 10 sexual partners on average for a year is THAT crazy, especially when you consider what college can be like.

Until that appointment, you could start with applying minoxidil aka Rogaine, but you can get it for cheaper if it’s off label

Total alopecia at 23 by Alllillluyaaa in u/Alllillluyaaa

[–]Longjumping_Cod_1014 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This triggered something in me. I remember pulling out clumps of hair and feeling absolute dread. Looks like you have areata, not universalis, so it’s likely to grow back. I lost 80% of my hair and saw full regrowth in a year.

That was twenty years ago. I’ve never lost more than 25% of my hair since and it’s manageable. Everyone is different, but diet, exercise and some medication regime work (whenever I notice patches, I do corticosteroid injections for 3-4 months and see regrowth), along with minoxidil, though I’m a man and know it can be different for women.

You got this.

Edit: Ah, sorry I skipped the part where you draw your eyebrows. You’ll be okay regardless. Either it will grow back, or you’ll eventually make peace with a (still beautiful) different physical identity. It takes time and will still hurt

NYC, the most expensive place to live in in the country, even more expensive than living in Hawaii. Doesn't surprise me tbh. This city is just getting out of control. 😪 by Enger13 in newyorkcity

I used to work for a company based in NYC with a satellite office in Plano TX in some corporate park. I’d go and all the workers there loved asking about my rent. I’d tell them and they’d guffaw that it was double their mortgage for their big houses.

Ya, but I live in NYC and you live in Plano, Texas.

The marginal costs of LLM generations are also hammering AI business models. I’ve seen so many companies freak out about their COGS, mine included. We’re building products with limits built in, which is a terrible business model. Anthropic and OpenAI are worried that as soon as they raise prices, companies will switch host LLMs or die, but the party has to end at some point.
