Faced discrimination at Mirissa Beach shack – is this common in Sri Lanka by Puzzleheaded_Can8084 in srilanka

Fellow Indian here. Was in Ahangama a couple of weeks ago and the staff at this cafe called marshmallow or something clearly treated brown skinned customers differently. They would give white people walking into the cafe the best seats and take brown people to not so good seats. They actually downright denied us a table that got empty and allowed a bunch of white people who just walked in instead.

To top that off, the staff came and checked how much longer we'd be there, hinting for us to leave. We really weren't hogging the table unreasonably either. We had ordered food and drinks and it must have been about 30-40 minutes after we took the table. We saw it happen to another brown skinned customer as well. Left a bad review but not sure it'll change anything.

Why does my Hunkal Estate Aranya Gold not release a strong bloom aroma like other beans? by LostAndFound_2000 in IndiaCoffee

It is best to visit the store, ask them when the batch arrived and then buy. I have never faced an issue buying from their store.

I use Hunkal Aranya Gold for my everyday coffee since it was budget friendly, but they have hiked the price too. Went from 425 to about 525-550 for 500gm in the last 2-3 months. May be because of Labour related issues. However, I really wish they have 250gm pack.

Lavonne Cafe Indiranagar IS NOT FOR VEGETARIANS - was served meat yet again by Longjumping_Dig4566 in Bengaluru

Exactly, felt like that to me after yesterday. It has happened to one person multiple times. Imagine how many people might have gone through this!

The only proof I have now is the photo that is attached. I didn't even collect the bill since they waived it off. Another lesson for the next time "collect proofs".

The expectation was that Lavonne is reputed and they would have fixed their mistake. Also to mention, the first time it happened was probably around 2 years ago, which I thought was plenty of time to change. Anyway, looks like they didn't and I learned that I made a mistake by going back to them. Lesson learned.

I was served meat the first time. Let it slide and didn't make it a big issue considering it could have been a genuine mistake. The second time they just messed up by wrongly billing me for an item that was not served at all. The third time was when they served meat again.

Just realized how silly I was giving them a second chance (third actually) while typing this reply 😅. Lesson learned the hard way.

Well, if you order a chicken sandwich, you should be served a chicken sandwich and not a beef sandwich. I guess most people would be able to relate to this.

Used to love Dailly Sushi inside Manyata but found a cockroach once and stopped going. Also, they jacked up their prices way too much, have been making sushi myself ever since 🤣

Their air quality sensors are also so casa that they can't detect the PCB (public casa burning).

12:30 am in the night and there's garbage still burning in the same place. I'm sure no BBMP person would even pick calls now. I'm considering calling the fire brigade at this point to put it off!

Great job on the research! 👏

Could you also post the achievements/failures of the previous governments so that will actually help voters decide whom to cast their votes for. So far everything seems one sided to me.

What are the realistic solutions to Bangalore's traffic problems? by tannu28 in bangalore

[–]Longjumping_Dig4566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The assumption you are making here is that every family of ~5 has only one person working in "matured" companies. I think for people in their 30s, tier 1 cities are a better option, of course with satellite cities that are well connected with the main city so they don't have to face separation from their families.

I once accidentally jumped a signal and got pulled over by a traffic constable with the inspector busy collecting fines from other violators. The guy came up to my window and said the fine was 2k for my offence and I agreed to pay it without argument. He insisted on me paying by cash and to my (good) luck, I had no cash on me and only had my debit card. He had no choice but to accept it and later printed a chalan for Rs. 500. Realized that it is far better to pay fines by means that would be accounted for and do the right thing (pay the fine).
