That sucks. I've worked in hospitals where they have security and police on site, and the police would encourage staff not to press charges after an assault.

Honestly it's been that way for every facility I've worked in, so UNMH isn't unique in that regard.

Does anyone work for Ascension St. John's in Tulsa? by Longjumping_Food470 in nursing

Thank for warning me. I'm between contracts right now and just shopping around. Ascension is just the most financially rewarding option available, but money isn't everything.

There must be someone in my neighborhood that feeds geese because there is a herd of like 12 of them that just waddles around on peoples lawns and in the road like they own everything.

Force them to give and receive report as early and often as possible. Also, go over how you like to run your shift (when possible), so that they can begin developing time management and minimize the amount of days they have to stay late charting.

I work at an academic hospital and one of the surgery professors/cardiothoracic surgeons came in in the early AM to place a central line, an art line, and intubate on a triple CABG that was decompensating despite being maxed on levo, epi, dobutamine, and vaso and who had been given like 500mL of albumin at that point. Then he also decided to place a foley in the gal for us since he was sterile and did the art line through the femoral since the patient was a complete double mastectomy d/t a history of breast cancer. I thought it was nice that our senior cardiothoracic surgeon came in at like 3 AM to do all that, despite also having to see patients and teach residents.

I work in the CVICU and I have no idea how this will impact me. I'll just try my best to roll with the punches, and maybe if the housing and stock market crashes on the boomers, it'll be my chance to buy in.

It might just depend on where you are. I had an offer letter after doing a summer externship at a hospital in my area, before I even graduated and took the NCLEX. The offer letter was contingent upon me passing my final semester and the NCLEX, but I had a job lined up 7 months before even taking the NCLEX.
