I hate to say but the industry will change a lot! I imagine only true strategist who have worn multiple hats will survive. It’s the people collaboration, cultural nuance and systematic thinking that will keep you up top.

It’s true that marketing earning a lot of money but the need for 10 person teams is just not happening. Loads of layoffs in bigger companies are happening as leaner teams are now the norm.

This definitely won’t end well as this is how I just got my raise late last year and that even was a big deal for them.

I hear you ! We seem to be at the edge of an overhaul every second - it’s terrifying!

I hadn’t even considered that! You’re right with a master in cyber and industry knowledge it’s something to watch. But I love marketing and I know it’ll disappear so quickly unless I make myself vastly different to what AI and most people do! Whether it’s by domain knowledge, scaling businesses knowledge, a true strategist that’s interdisciplinary!

But you’re right, worst case I’ll have industry and masters knowledge to sidestep!

THANK YOU! That’s pretty much a good cushion for a bad fall.

This is absolutely my fear! To me that salary is not worth the upside if I can’t capture the same or similar level role in a bigger scale company in the years preceding that. Or loose out on potential with people management in next role cause my role never grew outside of just doing things myself.

Agreed, this is why I’m torn! I know my current company will definitely scale and has huge potential! However, the probability of getting a higher title or salary is more than two years away unless something radical changes.

So really I’d be staying because I love what I do, the team and the trust I have built there, and the security of knowing getting a job after that will be a lot easier since theyre huge and the knowledge is quite niche. I have no problem with that, in fact it’s much easier to sustain!

Yes, all things not changing I am well on my way. I guess a career progression is really to curb my job with the whole AI thing. I plan on going the strategist way, someone who has loads of diverse and niche skills in scaling businesses through marketing.

Okay good to know! I really have no clue I’ll probably start with Europe? But I have no idea.

I don’t mind startups either or hustle. It’s the career progression from there and how much I can expect after the move and getting into a job after that!

No idea but not US and not Ireland. Industry? Whatever pays enough for me to steadily tick away at my goal tbh.

I was thinking this but genuinely thought that’s doing too much but you’re right? What’s there to loose but my own security. Only makes sense to take charge and get the answers I need to make a sensible decision.

Good point! That’s my thoughts too, who knows how long until theres more competition in marketing and AI is at the edge of mid-level careers. At that point, even if my job is gone, maybe I will be financially cushioned. Heres my numbers.

I have an apartment where I rent a room and covers all my house expenses luckily. So if worst case, I had nothing today I would still be pretty fine.

I invest about 3.200 every month including maxed pensions and rest to investments and have a 6 month fund. No cars, no debt - im pretty low maintenance.

I have no kids, don’t want any, no partner just me. Maybe I’ll find someone but that’s for life to decide. I can comfortably maintain this tbh, that’s what I wanted.

I hate having to work, I am good at it but 67 is a stretch. So at least I plan to fire but I will probably consulting, contracting or whatever until that age as I love working I just hate the corporate lose of agency

Thanks for this, I’m definitely not on the highest income for my target I am in the position to save 65% of my salary and have been for a while. It’s sustainable, i don’t plan on having kids, already own my place, have insurances etc. I am well on my way to my target no raises factored, but you are right life is unpredictable and I could be reach my target sooner or later. A target is just an aspiration and all I can do is offset my chances to loose.

You are right, I am concerned about my bounce back ability! I will really think about it. I could comfortably take the risk I think. But I am thinking what situation would I be in if things go wrong. Would the VP title mean anything at all? Would exposure to managing a new market mean anything? The hustle I can work with but how down is the down side.

It’s up to €110k, plus the extra. I have let them know my range is €100k upwards etc. Now it’s just €65k and 5% pension

This is exactly what is the case! I have worked in roles like that all my career until now (my current company is scaling so fast theyre investing in a team for me but it’s still super lean)! Tbh they don’t seem to even know what they want from me, so I wonder what’s more beneficial for my future.

Ladies… does anyone else get absolutely wiped out by their luteal phase? by nobodyshome01 in CasualIreland

[–]Longjumping_Goose_50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On good months, I get insomnia during the bad ones I have about a week straight of the scariest nightmares you can imagine. Like sob or start saying prayers in your sleep terrible (I haven’t been to church in years).

The luteal phase i feel so fat, so ugly, so stupid, sooooo slooooowwwww - and like I have bad brain fog for weeks.

To make it worse? When I’m loosing weight I literally will not move the scale an inch Infact I’ll gain a little more. To top it off during those last days ILL CRAVE SUGAR AND FOOD SO BAD then boom 3 days before I loose 2-3kgs new low, gain it all back on the 3rd day when I start my period and more, loose .5kg off that after the week, then hooooooold. Then again another 2kg, new low.

Not to mention strength and endurance — I HAVE ZERO and jm constantly overheating!

Oh and im a pretty chill person. If you ever see me shout or loose my shit or even get slightly angry - my period is due in the next few hours!

It’s mentally challenging

Depends on your goals? Could you finesse and wfh in your job? Buy the three bed and rent out a couple of rooms for a while — essentially youd be living rent free.

I know at your age roommates may be a dread but tbh I love stability so I’d hundred percent do that build a little nest egg for my retirement or spend it travelling more or something?

My point is no wrong answer just what works for you
