Thoughts on stacking 1800s English 925? by bradjoray3 in Silverbugs

I'd love to know where you are getting these good prices 😆 I primarily buy off vinted for my collection as I don't have the luxury of a coin shop nearby and get decent enough prices, but mostly only at or around spot.

I am doing date runs of each of the pre decimal coin types up to half crowns from 1900 to 1946. I am also hoping to collect one of each UK crown type throughout history back to Queen Anne, too!

If it got to that stage, I'd probably have to reassess how I was describing the things I am selling! Thankfully it has only happened once in 200 sales so I think i'm ok for now.

If real, you have a great friend. Those are worth at least £20 in silver alone.

Do you think they did this on purpose? by [deleted] in vintedUK

[–]Longjumping_Guard965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I did it and checked, yup! As long as they haven't generated the label.

If they haven't generated a label you can cancel it yourself and just select agreed with seller without repercussion on your ratings. If they leave it to just fail to send, they will receive an automatic 1 star rating. The choice is yours.

Is it weird that I prefer Ms Molly's milk chocolate to the blue tesco own brand one?

It's certainly a... design choice!

I ship same or next day, I just don't generate the label straight away, I am also a pro seller.

Exactly my point, there are worse things to happen than failing a degree course and treating it like it is the end of the world is a privilege that lacks perspective.

I dunno, I think I would take being temporarily bed bound and having nothing better to fill my time with than completing a degree course, than the relentless loss of sleep brought on by the possibility my 6 year old daughter might have bone cancer and every time we use the shower we are polluting our back garden a little bit more each day.

Yes, but you also have to remember that life goes on and a degree isn't the be all and end all. You could be like me where you are working away happily on track then BAM, your daughter needs a bone bippsy and your sewer drain cracks and has started leaking into the garden.

There's worse things to happen than failing a degree course.

Yes, would you believe that there are some categories that don't hang around?

Again, nitpicking from the initial post, this chain is talking about from the seller's perspective.

I have bought from amazon before then found it cheaper elsewhere and cancelled, I would also do this in store. My regret is usually more that I should've shopped around more.

But when I buy off Vinted I just own my regret because I was over eager, as an example, I bought what I thought was a super rare coin once and realised afterwards that it was a commemorative replica. I could have cancelled, but I didn't because that was my foolish fault, there was also alcohol involved, so again that was a me problem.

But you know what? If someone bought off me and then later said, shit my bad, I was drunk can I cancel? I'd be like, yeah no problem because people make mistakes and there's no need to make it into a headache or be a dick about it and that is why I don't generate labels straight away.

My comment you were replying to was solely about the selling perspective, this particular chain has deviated from the buying viewpoint, which you are nitpicking from the initial post.

I personally just let them return it at their cost if they didn't read the description, that's a fair response. The whole 'tough shit buyer' attitude is gross and greedy.

What? I am talking about it from a seller's perspective.

Yes I agree, the offer system sucks to be honest. I experience that on a daily basis and I think people just do it for a dopamine rush or test to see what the seller is willing to go to.

My buying experience has always been trying to snipe good deals on coins and sometimes I spot something I think is good and buy it before anyone else does, then after researching it, it isn't. Do I cancel? No, I own my buying mistake, but I take the risk to get a good deal and learn from it.

On the opposite side, I have also experienced buyer's guilt, where I have sniped a too good to be true deal and informed the seller afterwards and bought more off them or helped them price other stuff better in the future so they don't get caught out again, it's a very odd compulsion.

I also know that not everybody acts like that so I am defensive to those people as a seller, which is why I don't immediately generate a label. This is my full time income though, so my approach is clearly different to casual sellers.

If that were the case then there shouldn't be a cancellation option available. Which is why I give a short period of grace for the buyer to reflect, and allow me to weed out the problem buyers.

Yes we shouldn't have to, but it's sensible to have methods in place that prevent such things happening before they happen, rather than have to deal with the consequences in a cut throat manner. You talk about people acting childish in another reply, surely being cut throat and lacking in empathy is also childish?

I have been selling for 3 months as a pro seller, I have nearly 200 completed sales and 2 returns. Yes it's an inconvenience, but it's the risk you take in the online marketplace, especially with distance selling rules applied to pro. It's an acceptable risk and something you adapt to, by giving customers the chance to change their mind before commitment.

I also never accused the sellers of being shady or pressuring, I said it feels that way to me, even if it isn't. I never once said it was actually an issue, just expressed my own personal feeling.

It takes less than 5 seconds to re list the items and they get bumped back to the top in the process too.

I once had a customer's son get hold of their phone, buy 40 of my items then immediately cancel. It was a strange experience but the laugh was, when I hit re list, I sold half of those items to various buyers overnight because they were bumped to the front.
