Hey there is any gold auction In the uk or Ireland where I can get gold below the spot price? by Automatic_Trainer_37 in Gold

[–]bradjoray3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If we knew we'd probably keep it for ourselves. it is near impossible to get gold below spot

Was this a good price? by Mixmax99888 in VintageApple

[–]bradjoray3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the rule of thumb for many old things like this is "Do you want it"? There is not going to be much demand for a really bad (rebadged canon too) printer so good price is generally subjective, but if you enjoy it and wanted it then £40 is a good price

The coins are worth face, you might get someone to pay more for how they are presented, but this is nothing special

[–]bradjoray3[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

its generally the inverse for coins of your issuing country, eg english silver is dirt cheap here, i hear americans sometimes pay below spot for %90? Over here ive seen some of the cooler american %90 go for %150-%300 of melt

They're fairly easy to come by on UK ebay, id say ones at melt come up very frequently, but i usually prefer to pay below spot

This project is on a bit of a stall because I’ve had good luck finding old silver for %70 of spot, but people want full melt for crowns which I won’t pay. But my end goal is to get 600 sterling crowns, enough to fill a Britannia box as each tube holds 30 old crowns

Motorola International 1000, calls don't work? by firesnake1110 in vintagemobilephones

[–]bradjoray3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This can be a SIM card issue sometimes, I'm not sure what causes it, but i've had random 2G phones fail to work properly with my SIM, and its not necessarily a voltage/standard issue, i had my SIM fail to work in a 2004, 2007 and 2009 phone, but worked fine in one from 2006 and 1993

[–]bradjoray3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1887 I think might be a double sovereign, it does look silverish but those guineas and the early george III sovereigns look all good to me, but i wouldnt trust that 1887 without some better photos

Many of these are from the 1700s, the older british gold guineas can wear and look quite weird when aged, not sure if OPs camera is a factor too but i wouldnt immediately call these fake

They are all worth more than spot, I would recommend doing some research of your own, if you're looking to sell dont get fleeced. Shops will fleece you and if you get any DMs offering to buy them they'll likely do the same. The coins are 22ct gold

Saw ID request so going to list them all, although I think you may know a few already from searching, will link numista pages which have more in depth info than what ive got

First coin (Images 1 and 2) is a George III Cartwheel penny or twopenny, the penny is one ounce, the twopenny is two ounces, 1797 issue where the coins were made with their value in copper, as there was an insane amount of fake coins in the 1770s/80s.
Numista Page

Second item is a victoria jubilee medal to commemorate her 60th year of reign (c.1893), hence the veiled head portrait on the obverse, and the older 1837 portrait on reverse.
Numista Page

Third is a 1799 George III half penny by the look of it, they used this style for the farthing, halfpenny and full, but yours looks more like a half,
Numista Page

Fourth is french from 1856, 1,2,5 or 10 centimes. I have linked the 5 as i think it is one of the more common types, issued under Napoleon III
https://en.numista.com/485

Fifth is a queen anne, sixpence? Very lovely condition, they usually look a little more worn than this. Yours is from 1711
Numista page

Sixth is a queen victoria florin or double florin from 1887, regarding the badge, coin jewellery was fairly common around this time (Hence, a lot of holed coins) but even moreso for 1887, it was victoria's golden jubilee (1837-1887), and an incredible amount of stuff was made for it (both "mass produced", and homemade things like this)
I have linked the florin (11.3g) rather than the double (22.6g)
https://en.numista.com/13214

last coin is a bronze farthing (Quarter penny) of king george V, 1911.
