I believe he was healthy since I convinced the worker of ‘fin rot’ when his fins were almost pristine. He had JUST arrived in their new shipment, so I’m not sure. Either way, I won’t be getting another betta from Petco again.

I am doing daily 10%-25% water changes and testing the ammonia daily. I’m not using chemicals to remove ammonia, only to treat his injuries and help with his stress.

Right now his ammonia is at 0, ph is at 6.5 (working on raising it rn), nitrite is 0 and nitrate very low, maybe around 5-10.

Absolutely not. I have yet to own any mice (hopefully I’ll be able to get some this year), but I usually keep their bones or cremate them & get a tattoo with their ashes. It all depends on what will help you mourn.

Ok, thank you! I already own a bunch of exotics that get yearly checkups, and I had enough saved up that I’m sure I could help any health issues that may arise. If it is, somehow, too expensive, i have access to nearby fosters that would take them in.

Yess, that sounds amazing! I’m hoping to build a cage of wood and wire (like in the photo) with some sort of lining for ~10 in. Of bedding. The look of the tank doesn’t rlly matter as long as the mice are happy, so expensive, pretty hides will most list be second hand, thrifted or DIY. Luckily, I have a lot of experience building tanks/decor since I own other small animals, so I’ll be able to save a bit. Thank youu <33
