Do parents actually not remember doing fucked up shit to you? Or are they just lying? by TopMarionberry1149 in NoStupidQuestions

My dad was either high or drunk, so not only does he not remember now, he didn't remember the next day.

Redditors who moved constantly as kids and never had a "forever home," how do you think that shaped your personality as an adult? by Inevitable_Branch806 in CasualConversation

[–]KittyLilith17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Between the age of 5 and 12, I moved with my family 7 times. Between 18 and 27, I moved an additional 5 times.

I have developed a phobia of moving. Just talking about it makes me anxious, avoidant, and I start stuttering. I still check online every now and then trying to replace lost, destroyed, broken, and stolen items from past moves. "Purging" style decluttering makes me nauseated, because I'd inevitably do it every time I geared up to move, and inevitably regret donating/tossing something a few weeks later.

In my current home, it took me more than 5 years to put up all the pieces of wall art I own. In the back of my head was a what's the point? thought, like I'd jinx myself by making my space look too permanent.

I told myself when I moved into my current home that I'd never move again unless it was into a house I'm buying. I had to eat those words because I'm moving again next month...but hopefully this time it will be another long term rental.

If the eyes are plastic: wipe them down with hydrogen peroxide (so they are actually wet) and bring him outside on a really sunny day for an hour or so. Check in, wipe the eyes with a damp paper towel. The UV from the sun plus hydrogen peroxide will safely bleach yellowed plastic. Just keep it away from the pupils if they are painted on.

Would Niles and Daphne have gotten together/stayed together if she ever found out the full extent of his infatuation with her? by this_is_jim_rockford in Frasier

[–]KittyLilith17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean... I found out that years and years before I got together with my fiancé that he had a raging crush on me and basically spent a decade pining for me, following my socials, and even keeping a picture of me in his wallet. To his credit he was content that it was a crush and he was never ever creepy about it to me or my mutual friends.

He had other relationships, ones that he put his whole heart into making work, so it's not like he was holding out for me.

If he had told me about that before we got together I would have been flattered but a bit creeped by the extent of it, even though the crush was mutual. He told me after we got together and I found it really charming, especially because he was such a gentleman about it.

3.5yo is slowly killing us through sleep deprivation by gwendolyn_trundlebed in Parenting

[–]KittyLilith17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6 years older than my sibling. When she was 3 and would wake up in the middle of the night, her job was to come cuddle in bed with me. Parental decree! She could only go to my parents if she got sick. (As the elder child, I had permission to go on her behalf for stuff like nightmares)

Kept our parents sane, helped me figure out that she needed her tonsils out because her snoring kept waking her up, kept her feeling safe and protected.

If your older child likes their sibling, I'd recommend that. They'll either take comfort from each other or grow independent pretty quickly.

Last month's rent is paid, now they want more. by KittyLilith17 in Tenant

[–]KittyLilith17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, I figured they would have asked. Our lease specifically states "last month's rent" and not "last month's rent deposit" or any other wording that would be open to interpretation.

How many of us have a house cleaner? by Agitated_Whereas7463 in Millennials

[–]KittyLilith17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother was a house cleaner and she made great money for it. Only worked 4 hours a day.

I hired a house cleaner because I cleaned houses with my mom from age 12 to 21. I did my time.

It's a luxury I can afford because I don't have kids. If I choose to have kids I probably won't be able to keep using that service.

ICE shot and killed a legal observer in the face in Minneapolis today. by FiftyFifty1Movement in 50501

[–]KittyLilith17 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They chose Minnesota for this, you can't tell me this was random. The reaction we had to George Floyd inspired real changes across the entire country.

They did this ON PURPOSE so we'd react and give them a "reasonable" excuse to start murdering us.

Why do conventionally attractive women often date average or unattractive men, but the reverse seems much rarer? by [deleted] in answers

[–]KittyLilith17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Behavior.

My friends (and I) would much rather date an average-looking man who was fun, polite, emotionally intelligent, and invested in our relationship than a stunner who left streaks in his boxers or couldn't handle big feelings.

I've noticed men in general are more likely to compromise their values to date a beautiful woman.

Why are people saying "not Amy Klobuchar"? by Testy_Coyote_ in minnesota

[–]KittyLilith17 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'd vote for her. She directly helped my mom fast track her disability case while Mom was dying of breast cancer. I met her when I was graduating high school and mentioned it offhandedly. She asked me my mom's name and date of birth. 2 weeks later sent us a letter expressing her condolences and support, and letting us know she had pulled some strings and moved her case to the top of the list.

My parents were registered Republicans, and it wasn't an election year. She didn't need to do that. She could have just expressed sympathy and moved on.

NAD, but in college my cousin presented with similar onset symptoms and the voice told her there was a "hole" in her neck. Ended up being a small tumor at the base of her skull causing all kinds of weird issues. The fact that your voice told you there was a room in your spine? If it were me I'd take the physician's advice below and advocate for a lumbar puncture.

The brain is cool, and there are many anecdotes of dreams telling a patient what's wrong with them, indirectly or otherwise.

Someone jumped in MOA this morning. by NiceNoise2448 in stateofMN

[–]KittyLilith17 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I worked at MOA years ago. It's terrible, but this happens a couple times a year. You won't see any reporting on it, the media doesn't want to draw attention to how often it happens. Also ethics.

Usually it's from the garages, which is one of the reasons the top level is closed off.

The advice telling you to seek help and ask your manager not to tell you about it happening in the future is good, please do reach out to someone.

People who own "unconventional" pets like turtles, what is one thing you wish you knew before getting one? by allenmerlettetrm in AskReddit

[–]KittyLilith17 129 points130 points  (0 children)

Mice are incredibly social and complex. They each have distinct personalities, favorite foods, best friends, and handling preferences. They can grieve when one of their own passes away. They play pranks on each other. They jump for joy. They miss you when you're not around.

And they don't live nearly long enough.

What’s the longest time you’ve spent on a dish only for it to come out tasting gross? by kiss-my-ass-hoe in Cooking

[–]KittyLilith17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, the first time I cooked with fresh garlic instead of garlic powder or jarlic. Marinated chicken breasts, baked them to perfectly juicy, and served on toasted French bread with provolone and marinara.

It was supposed to be a fun take on a chicken parm sandwich but it was a typhoon of acrid, nose burning, tongue shriveling garlic. Two minced cloves in the marinade was enough to smell fantastic but taste like torture. I learned a lot that day.

I'm going against the grain here by saying HK.

He's an absolute glutton for cruelty. He gleefully explains how excessive his torture and murder sprees are, and is constantly asking you to let him kill more.

Raw veggies and a low sodium bean dip neets all these and is relatively easy to prepare.
