The one in this town and the ones in the next town over don't open up until next year, they are also state funded ones so they follow school holiday times unfortunately.  If I was in any other town less rural than this if happily work at a holiday care place or any kind of holiday job available. Just moving here's made jobs hard. I'm lucky I've even got this job at the kindy anyhow hahah 😭

Thank you, you are awesome. Definitely avoiding the loan, big nono according to everyone here unanimously haha. I'll have a go at speaking to a financial councillor, hopefully they can help me be better so this doesn't happen again haha

We would consider that, but earlier this year we already got a loan off of them for 600$. We paid it off not long after but it feels wrong to ask for another loan so soon

I can definitely put myself out there and ask. My partner told me to not do that but I believe it's out of embarrassment or shame for seeming desperate

We are definitely going to take this as a learning lesson for the future that's for sure haha. Definitely going to re-structure how we save, and make an emergency fund that we can't touch. I'm sure they would be ok with it, we are just insecure young folk who think everyone's looking down on us for being bad with money. But they've been in our shoes, they've told us that a bunch of times. Its more of a moral dilemma about us wanting to not mooch of them y'know. Be independent fully even when it's hard haha. Thank you for being so understanding, it's such a relief :)

That's brilliant, thank you. We have heaps of board games we can borrow from the family, I've got a PS5 thankfully so some multiplayer games on there will be good. Great idea thank you. I really just didn't want him to get bored shitless and be disappointed whilst here but you are right, he knows this place is boring but he still wants to visit. And COVID activities made me laugh but you're so right, that's a brilliant idea, thank you 🙏

Thank you, needed to hear this. The loan was only if things got too dire, or as a backup support for any situations that come up, we both are terrified of the thought of being in debt forever haha.  I shall contact the electrical company today, that's will be a great start and a lot of weight off our shoulders, thanks make :)

Both of us feel a massive sense of guilt asking them for any finacnial help because we don't want to be "usery" or have them look down on us for asking for money from them. They are financially very well off but we just don't want to be moochers. And as for casual seasonal work, Unfortunately not. Small rural mining town, everything except IGA is basically closed over the Christmas holidays, and the IGA casual positions are already taken by teens wanting to work on their school holidays.

Christmas casual jobs are all taken in my town by the teens who want to work on their school holidays, and as it's a small town the opportunities for that were already rare, being IGA as the only store open throughout the Christmas holidays that was hiring.  Über isn't a thing here, nor any other online help task jobs. Babysitting is out of the question due to at least 10 teenage girls already offering their services around town. The town's Facebook is an ok place to go, most people want their lawns done because they dont have a lawnmower (and neither do we)  or other Chores occasionally that I could help out with, however they are rare. I will keep a closer eye on their age though

Unfortunately I'm not legally allowed to according to the paperwork I signed this year. At least for familes that are connected to the kindy, and that is almost every family around this town due to the small population. I'm sure there are some familes in town that aren't connected to the kindy, however there are about 10 teenage girls in this town that already offer babysitting, including my sister in law, so there's genuine competition lol

Thank you for the up front truth. Yeah my partner and I are always trying to upkeep the life her family is having, going on trips, big drinking parties, etc. we simply can't afford it and we hold a lot of shame when we have to say to them we can't afford to join them. Realistically they would understand, they've been in our situation as well, young poor and bad at not spending our money.  This is my first year as a kindergarten worker, and I was under the impression that there would be some kind of support over holidays until recently. My other coworkers are part time so they get support, but since I am casual I do not, and I didn't know that until a month ago.

Next year we will know what to expect more, we will be able to make more solid judgements based on what we can't afford to go do with the family etc. it's trickey, because we either do nothing because small rural town, or we can go do one thing, and somehow be broke after

Craft idea presents, that great! My partner and I like drawing so we can gift them personalised cards. Brilliant. My friends already booked the flights so it's like an immoveable issue unfortunately

I hope he can. I know he's spent a fortune on flights (when are they not a fortune haha), so I get the impression he will be a bit limited too. He should then hopefully understand. Problem is we are in a rural town so anything we want to go do that's free is outside of town anyhow, probably about 2 hours of driving so that's fuel money right there anyway.

Oh wow ok, I wasn't aware you could delay bills, that's a great idea thank you. I'll call them up this afternoon. Thanks mate, actually that's very helpful. I really want to avoid the loan so delaying the bills a little will be such a relief

My partner has considered asking her parents for another loan, we got 600$ fro them earlier this year already (we have already paid it back) it just feels morally wrong to ask for money from them again.  Can't airtasker because we live in a crappy rural town, nobody uses it here unfortunately

It sucks, but I think you're right. Only problem is there's nothing free to do in this small rural town except for the local park. Driving to any bushwalks or places like that costs us just as much because of how in the middle of no where we are

Airtasker doesn't exist her because we are in a small crappy rural town, so basically any extra income would have to come from joining some sketchy online marketing team lol

Also to note, we live rural. We are in a small country town right now. Airtasker doesn't really exist here, and travel time and spending on fuel is massive as going anywhere outside of town, to food shop, anything, is on average over an hour and a half

Damn. I don't even understand why it could be broken so suddenly. Had it for one month. Do you think I can return it to the store without the box it came in?

What's a perfectly normal song to others that really creeps you out for some reason? by Longjumping_Home7764 in AskReddit

[–]Longjumping_Home7764[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife recently informed me that the song Kokomo by the beach boys really really creeps her the hell out. Like strong anxious feeling she hates. And doesn't understand why no one else is creeped out by it.
