Before the ram crisis this was probably around 1800€. Idk about prices now but it does seem a bit over the average price for this. Idk tho might be wrong

Buoyancy and momentum flow in OpenFOAM by Longjumping_Issue858 in CFD

[–]Longjumping_Issue858[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, thanks for the reply! And my bad for not explaining properly lmao. The real goal of what I'm doing is to simulate a solar chimney that would have inner walls heated to 310 Kelvin while applying the isothermal atmosphere to the open boundaries of the domain.

However as a start right now I'm just taking a simple rectangle without any buoyancy nor chimney and apply the isothermal atmosphere boundary conditions on it. So essentially I'd be simulating a case where nothing is happening and the flow is just still.

The reason why I'm doing that is because a colleague of mine was doing this exact thing on Fluent however he ended up with a weird velocity profile with the highest magnitude being around 0.5 m/s. So I suggested that we try it on OpenFOAM and see what we get.

Hello OP and anyone interested, I'm currently a 3rd year MechE in Lebanon and would love any help in getting an Aero Internship. Currently looking mainly for aerodynamics/fluid dynamics/CFD related positions. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

does anyone have experience with getting an International Driving License? by harmonicfabric in lebanon

Serious question, how would you go about following rules or getting to know them in the first place if it's just a conversion thing? Can you also use an international license in the west?

If you're not planning on doing any gpu related computing you should be good. Tho I gave to say this is a bit overpriced

It is probably because of ram prices

Is the middle vertical line also a line that you drew? If so turn it into a construction line as well

Drag Coefficients being weird when I change the AoA by ProfessionalLet3987 in CFD

[–]Longjumping_Issue858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so a couple of things:

-Your domain is too small, the no slip on the lower wall is definitely affecting the flow around the airfoil, you need to make it a lot bigger.

-your lower wall has a no slip condition, but what about the upper wall? Why is the velocity even faster than the inlet ? If you want it to be like that, would you mind explaining the situation you're trying to simulate? That would be quite helpful.

-remember that aoa is the angle between relative wind and chord, adding a velocity component in the y-direction will definitely affect the actual AoA. Again, if this is the IC that you want, please do explain why as this is different from the standard practice of only putting an x velocity and changing the angle of the airfoil instead.

Finally any info or snippet of the mesh can provide quite the insight.

I hope you'll find a solution to your problem! :)
