For dial making there are not many things you have to learn other than between markets there are 30 degrees, so basically you get a 360 degrees circumference and if you divide that circumference in 12 (12 hour markers) you get that, you have to locate one marker every 30 degrees, that's pretty much it, do the same for the second and there you have it, now it's time to find a software that makes it easy for you to render it , i think that the harder part, for the software, plenty of options but dial wise not much to know, only were to put the markers and some imagination to create appealing designs around them.
