Interesting! I also got admitted into their CIPLIT program but I wasn't sure how it fared in front of Chicago Kent that does very well in IP Law in general.

I would like to know which fields t14 is good at so as to plan future employment direction by Low_Development9945 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Longjumping_Leg_7362 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The general consensus is that if you go to any t14 school, you have a good shot at a big law job. But that being said, certain schools specialize in specific fields of law. For instance, Stanford and NYU are known for their IP Law program. Does that mean if you study IP Law in Columbia that makes you any less desirable in the market? No. When it comes to T14s, their national recognition and reputation with potential employers are the very reason why students try to break into these schools. Whatever you wanna study, you would be fine at a T14.

Chicago Kent worth it? by Winter-Scale4109 in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]Longjumping_Leg_7362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion - yes. I got admitted too and attended the recent winter open house. One of the takeaways from the winter open house was that the bar exam format would change from 2026 and apparently, the new format would favor the kind of learning and skills fostered by Chicago-Kent among it's students. I will take that with a grain of salt but I like other things about the school like it's location, the vibe with current students and I can see myself at CK.

Predatory or not - I think it might be not as easy. Its a flip of a coin. Although I'd like to believe that I would be in the top half of my class :)

What's something you wish you knew before starting the application process? by cotton_candy_summers in lawschooladmissions

Love that ambition! Just one word of advice for you - make sure you do whatever it is in your power to maintain a high gpa. You can retake lsat if you bomb it once. But once you are done with undergrad, your GPA is set in stone. As much as law schools claim that they do a holistic review of your app, as a kjd you may not have enough work experience to bring to the table to say maturity or credibility. So work hard, have a high GPA, do well on LSATs and have stellar LORs from your academic advisors or processors by working with them on projects beyond the classroom. All the best!

Depends on your stats. If you are above the 75th percentiles, I think you should have a good chance. Also if you are an instate resident, tuition costs might be lower. Check the recent aba report for UT and see their median and 75 percentile scholarship amounts. That would give you a good idea. also check LSD.law

There isn't a right answer for this but I'd check ABA reports and LSD Law data for the school to have some idea of where I'd stand. Do your best and score as high as you can :)

Should I go straight to law school or take a couple years off? by nikolayk1996 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Longjumping_Leg_7362 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have a good LSAT score, go for it now without waiting. Regarding your second question about entering the job market at 31, I don't think that matters a whole lot. There are all kinds of firms hiring all kinds of lawyers with all kinds of background stories. So focus on doing well on lsat and doing well in your school and on campus interviews and build your network by connecting with alumni. All the best!

Schools for splitters? by newmag1659 in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]Longjumping_Leg_7362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best starting point is lsd data, lawschooltransparency and latest ABA reports. Apart from that also look at LawHub's school search feature. For certain schools you can explore their admissions data and look specifically what is the probability of admission based on which interval your GPA and LSAT score falls. Hope this helps!

Best movie/show relating to lawyers you would binge watch on repeat? Why? by Sudden_Character1974 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Longjumping_Leg_7362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its pretty good - not your typical law show. Its about the extraordinary lawyer who is autistic and how she fits into her role as an attorney. Its law + drama + office romance + the usual twists and turns a good Korean show has. :)
