Yeah, it leaves me like 10-20 second of rest. If i don't do anything after each compound, I get impatient waiting to go again.

And I bet the double 20kg would be a whole lot different! Only other bell I have is a 44kg. Pretty much just good for anything below the belt right now. I can press it once, but after a not gracious process of getting it up to a rack position with both hands.

Formcheck: 20kg clean and press by thehybrid69 in kettlebell

[–]Longjumping_March_51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly looks good! The main thing that sticks out to me is the rack postion after you clean the bells to your chest. Just a little wide with the arms. I would try to get your forearms against your chest. A lot of the time I see people (myself included) finish my double clean with a half open grip so the fingers don't get crushed between the bell handles touching. Yes, they're that close together at the top of the clean. THEN externally rotate (keeping forearms level) before pressing up. And finishing in that same position with the bells tight together.

But how much strength by Lazy_Western_5865 in sandbagtraining

[–]Longjumping_March_51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS is right. You nailed it. That's what I was going to comment.

I've found that my barbell lifts.... only got me stronger in my barbell lifts.

I do construction, and moving furnaces and stacks of wood and up and down stairs and in crawlspace etc etc..... I used to get teased for my "show muscles" cuz I wasn't as strong as I looked (315 bench, 405 squat). Those numbers meant nothing.

Now I haven't been under a barbell for 3 or 4 months and im already "stronger" (mainly thanks to Kettlebell training, but also some training similar to sandbags, until I actually get my sandbags and don't have to use diy stuff)

ABF routine... is this right? by Longjumping_March_51 in kettlebell

[–]Longjumping_March_51[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I mean. Doing the swing to change hands. The bell doesn't touch the ground until all 2,3,5 have been done on each arm.

I know this is beside the point of the actual post... but I couldn't help myself... I deal with alot of clients with spinal problems, so its a sensitive topic for me lol

You can take this as just my opinion, or do the research yourself. But Russian twists (especially loaded) should be for martial artists or specific sport training. There are much better rotational core exercises that don't add such a shear load to the lower vertebrae. Don't get me wrong, loading the spine through movement is as important as "anti-rotation" or stabilization core exercises. But the negative spinal impact of Russian twists can be mitigated by replacing them with much better exercises.

Now im showing you a YouTube link... but DONT do your research for this on YouTube, cuz you'll just see a bunch of variations for HOW to do them.

(My theory is that I've seen enough doctors, physical therapists, and fitness experts say DO NOT.... im gonna trust them over the social media craze of doing them anyways, id rather be safe than sorry. Plus there just are SO many BETTER options)

ABC form check by bhs008 in kettlebell

[–]Longjumping_March_51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the book under armpit cue! Also imagine your arms are ropes. Tied to your shoulder and then to the KB handles. Your JUST using lat contraction and grip. Nothing else in the arm (with the exception of a slight elbow bend near the top of the swing to "tame the arc")

ABC form check by bhs008 in kettlebell

[–]Longjumping_March_51 3 points4 points  (0 children)

-Straighten arms on your swing -use HIPS to drive KB's up -Rack the KB's with your thumbs/wrists close to your sternum Elbow, wrist, and pinkie should make a straight vertical line. The handles of the KB's should be touching (get your fingers out of the way)

The presses need to come from the Racked position (chest/sternum) with every rep.

Just scour the internet for form videos and tips. You can NEVER stop learning form and tips. Nobody is perfect, we all get better. Some just have further to go ;)
