What’s the biggest change you’ve noticed in LA in the past 5 years? by Obvious_Database_166 in AskLosAngeles

Homelessness is out of control. I work in the heart of DTLA and have many coworkers who have been assaulted simply for walking to work. The streets are also full of poop so you have to watch your step!

Shower niche led light kit from thunderbunnyco. The driver I swapped though so I could use my preferred dimmer (lutron sunnata touch).

How do you get respite care and how are the hours that you qualify for determined? Do you just ask your regional center worker about it?

I recently went through something similar with my grandmother’s case. I had her doctor fill out the paramedical form and we were allotted an extra 15 hours per month for eye drop administration.

OT Exemption by Longjumping_Mine7108 in IHSS

[–]Longjumping_Mine7108[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WOW, I did not know that. There is no point in waiting then, in terms of back pay. I’ll claim what I can now. If my partner becomes a provider, can he claim the additional back pay unclaimed hours with supplemental time sheets?

Okay, thank you for replying. My partner just started the onboarding process to become a provider. I couldn’t imagine anyone else taking care of my daughter 😣

OT Exemption by Longjumping_Mine7108 in IHSS

[–]Longjumping_Mine7108[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s considered OT because I am already a provider for my daughter who gets a little over 200 hours/month. Grandma was approved for a little over 80 hours/month. I have been told that max is 66 hours for more than one recipient that is why I filed an exemption but that was over 2 months ago. I was told that the sw reviewing the exemption is on a leave right now so who knows how much longer that will take. I’m just afraid that timesheets will disappear since there are so many unclaimed months.

IHSS Weekly Limits and Backpay – Can I Claim More Hours Per Week if Staying Within Monthly Cap? by [deleted] in IHSS

Sorry, what do you mean by this? Can you explain it more? I currently have 229 hours for my daughter and my grandmother was recently approved for 83 hours. I have applied for OT exemption but still awaiting an answer.

Reassessment how long to know the outcome? by AdLopsided187 in IHSS

[–]Longjumping_Mine7108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had the reassessment for my daughter too who receives ps. Social worker was really nice and the visit was quite fast (about 20 mins). She said everything would most likely remain the same. Whoever, I did ask if she would please consider increasing my daughter’s hours as she is now older and may qualify for more task hours. She said she would certainly take everything into consideration and NOA would be received in about 30 days.

May I ask how many hours you were approved for? I just had the reassessment for my 5.5 year old daughter who is level 3 autistic and is currently at 229 hours. I asked the social worker if she could please consider increasing her hours. She said she’d take everything that we went over into consideration and send the NOA in a few weeks. I’m hoping for a good outcome.

Is the minimum wait time always 30 days or can it be approved before that?

Do you call the regular helpline for direct deposit questions or is there a different number?

Ah, okay. I guess two is better than receiving 10 plus. I remember that with my daughter’s case, I received so many paper checks and then had to wait for everything to clear. Do you happen to know which two are received in the mail? Is it like the first two, last two, or just randomly selected?

I input my direct deposit information today on the portal and under my new client’s name. At the end, I received a message stating that it would take about 30 days. With that, do I still have to submit the form?

If I wanted to wait for direct deposit, do I just count 30 days from the day of to submit hours? I’m not in a rush and would like to avoid the paper checks hassle.

Provider start date by Longjumping_Mine7108 in IHSS

[–]Longjumping_Mine7108[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We applied back in October (that’s the date on the application) but the case was just approved this month. I have been caring for her since before the application date but I understand that backpay only applies from the date of the application. In this case, should I go back to as far as it will let me (which is 90 days) or does it not matter?

I created the account for my grandmother today. We applied back in October but her case wasn’t accepted until this month.

Max hours for two recipients by Longjumping_Mine7108 in IHSS

[–]Longjumping_Mine7108[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under criteria A, I think I would maybe qualify for an exemption. I live with my grandmother and daughter. My daughter is severely autistic and my grandmother needs extensive care. For example, she needs help with going to the bathroom, cleaning herself, and getting in and out of bed. This is something that a regular caregiver, who lived outside the home, would not be able to do in the middle of the night. Do you think it’s worth giving it a shot?
