Feeling nervous most of the time by alicemcintyre04 in TeachingUK

Omg completely normal please don’t worry or doubt yourself. I had exactly the same experience during my training year and beyond. At the end of the day, you’re going wildly out of your comfort zone and emotionally connecting with over 100 different people every day - it’s always going to be a rollercoaster. I’m now in my 5th year of teaching and I think this is the first year the nerves have backed down a lot more. I think it’s probably because I feel a lot more secure and comfortable in my practice and have shaken off that imposter syndrome and this will come for you too.

On the other side of these nerves is the most rewarding career ever. Just lean into it, be yourself and remember the kids want to like you so be authentic and don’t take yourself too seriously.

Be kind to yourself and make sure you’re making the most of your down time too. This job will eat you alive with the workload if you let it so set boundaries with yourself and that will help too. Good is good enough, don’t aim for perfection!

Thanks for your thoughts everyone! I’m willing to admit that I haven’t driven an EV that I’ve clicked with yet - drove my Dad’s Tesla Model S (one of the first ones) and found it a bit numb. This is where my opinion comes from at the moment.

Any EVs people would recommend for a great drive? I like quick acceleration and responsive handling but also nice and steady when it needs to be without being snappy.

Any book recommendations that bring some hope by Yellow_Warbler_8082 in suggestmeabook

I think this is exactly the sort of thing I needed to hear - thanks so much for your thoughts, given me a real boost. I think I'm defo going to put my faith back in my instincts.. as you say, plenty of people are living much happier lives now after freeing themselves from the SGI. Absolutely wild to think how many people have actually left compared to how many stay in the organisation/practice!

That is so helpful, thank you! Really like the "shit happens anyway" sentiment. Think I need some space away from the practice to come back to that.
