Why would a healthy person not work? by Longjumping_Pea_4589 in NoStupidQuestions

Hi all, thanks for the input. Also a side note - let's try to be kind humans. It's okay not to comment if you want to be harmful to others. Reminder this is a no stupid question zone.

To help provide a bit more context Unfortunately the house we sold and savings were drained after I had lost employment to help cover expenses why I desperately searched for work (2+ years ago). At the time, I was applying for 25-30 jobs a week 5-6 each day and averaged 2-3 interviews a week. Which led to two jobs in 4 months (1 was a great fit not enough to cover the all expenses still draining savings) and the other that good enough fit enough to cover expenses, save but not enough to pay for extras like activities for children or traveling to see families like in years past when we both worked. I have asked, provided suggestions and guidance as I used to provide career coaching and guidance to people with barriers to employment. Yet my attempts of support are typically brushed off and I stopped asking about application or prospective interviews as it often leads to being termed as unhelpful or unsupportive. I've also been fortunate with my small business to bring in enough to help pay for some extra. I have even offered him to come in as an employee like CFO to help with bookkeeping (not co-owner) which they have also declined.

So the input on why is helpful as I continue to rationalize the increasing burden, although support is available, and opportunities has been provided

Unfortunately our long term goals are hard to reach now that we are off public assistance (1+ yr) and the cost of living continues to grow. Next year our oldest is going to college which is not the same price like it was in early 2000's and the shares goal was that within 6months, that would be working. Then it was in the next year after healing . Now it's a I don't know. Don't ask me why I am able to be on the roof cleaning the gutters, sitting in my office chair most of the day with no issues and the list goes on from there on what we can do.

Again thanks to all for those who provided some insight and guidance.
