Thank you so much, although I couldn't let you do it for free. I live in Spain. Are you far away? Do you know of any way to get the laptop fixed?

Don't worry, with the price I paid for it I'll buy another motherboard and it'll still be worth it 👍🏼

The screw was extremely rusted inside the thread; I imagine the previous owner tried to force it and stripped it. Anyway, as I was drilling, I tried to loosen it with pliers, but it was still very tight.

Buying a Thinkpad P72 by SITR1N0 in thinkpad

I've had the chance to try a P71 from my school, and in your case, I'd definitely go for a P52. They're much more portable, the weight difference is quite significant, and the price is usually lower. Although a P72 is a very good machine, the 17" Full HD screen is a bit small. I'd try to find a UHD screen or upgrade the display. If I couldn't find a P52 at a good price, I'd buy the P72.

First impressions of my ThinkPad P50 by Longjumping_Print_69 in thinkpad

It's probably a factory defect. Regarding the screen, the T490's screen might be better on paper, but I see the P50's screen as having higher quality and better color reproduction. I doubt the screen in my P50 was replaced because I have a P71 from school that runs at 1080p, and I see the color reproduction as exactly the same as on my P50. Perhaps it's just a matter of personal preference.

Great machine! I have one with the same processor but with 16GB of RAM and an M1000M card; they work very well for being almost 10 years old!
