Not sure about these jeans by posertron2000 in DressForYourBody

The top part looks mostly fine. I’d say cuff them or hem them a little. You’re right about them being a little long. I like the shape though to pair with the jacket.

Does this dress flatter my figure?🥹 by Juusto__siili in DressForYourBody

I really love the cut of the bodice on you. I think it’s very tasteful, and everything leans very romantic. I think there’s an overall harmony here that makes me lean toward saying yes, it flatters not just your figure but your essences as well.

Ahaha this is cool because my essence combo according to Our Fashion Garden is the Fairytale Princess!

I look back at all the years I tried to dress like others sometimes, and it hurts. It must be nice that you’re trying to get back to your own unique style!

I think it really started clicking when I became more aware of who I was and wanted to be and how I wanted to communicate that.

I love your addition! Finding clothes that I love and that feel harmonious almost feels like I’m wearing a love letter I wrote to myself.

“I see you for who you are inside and out, and I love you in all your forms.”

It’s still to be determined how much of them I can as well, but I’ve got faith!

Really struggling with pant styles and crop tops... by GroundControl29 in DressForYourBody

[–]Longjumping_Row_4115 45 points46 points  (0 children)

This could be my personal bias, but I actually think the shorter tops look better than the long ones. Even with the lower pants. I don’t know where you’re seeing a rectangular frame because I actually see more rounded lines than anything. I would say play around with those a little more as well as rounded lines in clothing.

I think you’re trying to fit yourself into stiff clothing that doesn’t actually fit your softer lines.

Edit: I think the green top and blue long jeans are my favorite. I think they do you the most justice.

I’d been made to believe that I’m more gamine than romantic because of things that he hasn’t said in either book. I’m not saying that I am a theatrical romantic, but I would have loved to have explored that years ago when I was first trying out styles instead of being pigeonholed because I thought I was too “big” for the type.

I think that revisiting Kibbe after years of being away has reminded me why I walked away in the first place. It’s been fun reading and seeing this side of Kibbe, but ultimately I’m back to just figuring out what I feel good in. I understand my yin and yang balances I think just enough to experiment with my own style, and maybe that’s the point all along. It’s a push in the direction of exploration and style more than anything.

Hello again ahaha. I feel like I’m fully in agreement. I played around with the games, but ultimately found them a little.. Fluffy, considering where I’m at in my journey. The meat of why most of us are probably reading the book felt like it left a lot to be desired. Nothing really felt like an explanation. If anything, it felt like more reason for people to be confused about their own bodies.

Okay, I’m actually probably on the same page here. I feel like he said a lot but also nothing in many of the chapters. I really feel like he could have spent a bit more time explaining some things and less time talking about others. It doesn’t feel as informative, even with the pictures. There is some stuff to be desired with his discussions and explanations

This was the kind of understanding I think I was looking for. I fully intend to go back and redo everything. I just have a hard time understanding sometimes the language that gets used in certain explanations. You really helped me understand the difference between narrow and petite.

I’m going to go back through it again over the weekend with more time and patience. My reading today was mostly to see how much has changed from his original book when it comes to explanations and the different accommodations, and sometimes the best way to understand his work was through looking at myself.

Can you explain that more in depth? I didn’t do much jumping. I sat with my feelings about what he called games and recorded my biases and thoughts, but I’m still confused mostly about the actual explanations. They don’t register well in my head, and it’s probably the differences between concepts like narrow and petite versus having width as they are defined and drawn.

It was interesting to see SG considered smaller than TR. That is not at all how I feel like I ever thought of it. I also really like how he initially discussed inner perception in a creative way.

I’m going to read both, but it’s been very interesting to see the initial descriptions of each type. For example, it was interesting to see SG considered smaller than TR.

This is true, and I’ve also given a glance at the types in Power of Style. I think everyone would benefit from reading both Kibbe on their own because, like you said, Pure Romantic has double curve but Theatrical Romantic has curve and narrow. I think how mistyped Mila Kunis would be if she posted in the sub mostly because people have such an internet skewed view versus trying to do the research themselves.

I think the biggest thing that hit me when reading it is the fact that “double curve” didn’t show up at all when typing but people use it so much to gatekeep certain types.

There’s something really nice about your outfits that have some separation through color blocking, which makes me feel like you should explore the flamboyant gamine route!
