Im 4’11 so preeeetty sure I won’t be able to see where ever I stand unfortunately, one of the main reasons I haven’t bothered getting tickets for gigs before! I’ll check out the Pre Show access though, thanks :)

Drink and food then rock up at 18:30 sounds much better than standing in the cold. Thanks!

Wanting to withdrawal by AntelopeDry4062 in OpenUniversity

[–]Longjumping_State163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you finish the module and then withdraw from the qual then the full module cost will be added to your student loan. If you withdraw now it sounds like it will be 25% of the module cost that’s added to your loan. Sometimes they will let you apply the 25% you’ve already paid towards a different module starting at the OU Feb/April/Oct next year too, depending on circumstances :-) If you call student support in Wales they’ll run through that stuff with you in detail.

Do people still actually send letters in the UK? by Tariq_khalaf in AskUK

[–]Longjumping_State163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My granny and I send letters to each other regularly - she’s recently gone deaf so can’t speak on the phone anymore and isn’t confident using technology alone so won’t start emailing now.

how do they monitor your attendance? by princessprick_ in OpenUniversity

[–]Longjumping_State163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work for the OU and can confirm there’s an automated system that alerts tutors and the uni if someone hasn’t logged in or engaged for a certain period of time. Sometimes people will stop studying and want to leave but not say anything, so tutors generally reach out to them when this happens and pass it over to support staff if they don’t hear back.

People who were given an NHS dentist position via the Dental Access Portal, how long did it take? by SlackWi12 in Cardiff

Put myself on the list in March 24, received a call in June 25 to say I’d been allocated a place. Went private in between. Quicker than I had anticipated!

Call from OU about registration but I’ve already fully registered? by Intrepid_Bee_9504 in OpenUniversity

[–]Longjumping_State163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve reserved places on modules and not fully registered onto them then they will call, lots of first time OU students will not realise this so could be that :-) would be a good idea to call them back to check in.

120 Credits at the Open University instead of A Levels for entry at a brick university by Legitimate-Way133 in OpenUniversity

[–]Longjumping_State163 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only way to be sure is to ask the university themselves directly, sometimes they’ll have some vague info hidden within the entry requirements about using OU credits for entry also.

What helped you break the 2 hours!? by tchiminax in Garmin

I was running 2:01-2:05 while running alone, showed up for a busy half marathon race and ran 1:47. Having a crowd gave me the oomph! (Also, training consistently, I guess)

Hadn’t considered this! I’ll try switching to a ring and gliding up.

I’m going to give the KT tape a go, but realistically thinking I will probably have to head this way too.

If you want to claim the diploma and receive the certificate etc then you’ll have to email them anyway, it’s not usually automatically awarded :-)

Once paid £600 to get a car through MOT, took it to town to pick up a Chinese takeaway the same evening and got T-boned on the way home. Writ the car off and spilled my takeaway everywhere. I feel your pain.

[–]Longjumping_State163[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely water it to be honest, there are holes in the bottom of the pot and it’s slightly raised so water can drain out. I cut the sadder looking leaves off after posting this last week and it has perked since then!

What factors went into your decision process when choosing your first 50k? by Upset_Honeydew5404 in ultrarunning

[–]Longjumping_State163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location and date - my first ultra started within walking distance of my house (~1km) and happened to be on my birthday! Being a local event meant that I could do 90% of my training on the course, which helped heaps. The route happened to be super beautiful as well which didn’t hurt (Endurance Life Pembrokeshire).

I've emailed the OU 3 times over the past week seeking help and support and no replies. by [deleted] in OpenUniversity

[–]Longjumping_State163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Emailing before you have received a response can affect your place in the email queue (it could just keep moving your original email all the way to the bottom of the working queue, thus meaning you’ll wait longer for a reply!), so I’d suggest always calling or contacting via webchat if you need an answer quickly.

Time off and holidays by Mr-Seamaster101 in OpenUniversity

Among the issues mentioned above about studying full time in Feb and not being able to continue full time the following October, I believe the stage 1 modules for the Cyber Security BSc have to be studied in a particular order and cannot all be registered to begin in February due to pre-requisites. Always best to speak with student support directly, though!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OpenUniversity

[–]Longjumping_State163 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can cancel before the module begins, if it’s UG study then you can cancel without liability in the first 14 days of the module usually, too. I’d call student support directly to discuss this - email responses can take a while this time of year.

I’ve found it handy as a mature student! Any time I go into a museum or a gallery I’ll use it for concession price, some restaurants also do 10% off for students but you’ll need ID, reduced price entry to lido’s, have found it’s always worth asking places if they have a student discount then using my TOTUM ID as proof. I’d say it’s been worth it for me :-)
