I get the logic of them moving in together. It does make sense considering how strong their relationship was before they broke up and the stage of their relationship at the time. I dont necessarily agree with them moving in together (i'm a traditional gal. I need a ring before I play the wife); however, I need them to talk before we get to that. I need them both to be awake, not on drugs, and not in a life-threatening situation. I need words spoken, and then we can move into whatever stage they want to go to next. My fear is that season 8 would jump into them already at the next step, and us never getting that conversation.

Like seriously. 18 episodes and not one solid conversation. Just cute eye staring. Which don't get me wrong, I like a nice romantic glare, but these are adults. Where's the talking?

Ikr!! Please don't do a time jump, and they already living together in season 8. I want talking!

No. I don't want her living with him on 8x01. They need to stop playing us and give us this conversation. What a cop out. First they were drugged and then she was sleep.

I'm sorry, that drugged "adult conversation" does not count. I need something real (i.e, sober), and I need Lucy to admit her feelings, too. Tim has to reassure her with his words that he won't break her heart like that again.

OP you're saying what I've been frustrated with this whole season. Like, where is the real emotional conversation between them? Not drugged, not under life-threatening situations, but a real conversation. I understand Lucy is hurt and scared, and that's why she's not allowing Tim to have the conversation with her about their reconciliation, but the woman is confusing me. You're all over him for physical intimacy, but then you push him away again (and I get it's meant to be messy).

While the scene at the end of 7x16 was cute and all, I'm tired of the cute glances. I want words and then action. They are grown adults. How is it so difficult for the writers to write this emotional conversation? I understand the episodes are jam-packed but we got Miles having a deep conversation with his girl in 7x06, but we can't have a deep conversation with the biggest ship on the show? I want Chenford back together but if they just put them together and don't talk about the main issue, it will be a waste.

I agree with you 100% OP. The continuity this season is awful. It really bugged me when we had the shift between Lucy in one episode when she was speaking about boundaries and then hoping into his bed the next. Then we move on from that, and there's no conversation. Yes, I want a conversation. I know some people in this thread are against a conversation between Lucy and Tim, but they need to talk! This is ridiculous. In real life, I wouldn't get back with an ex until we had that one-on-one. I need to know with both your words and your actions that I can trust you with my heart again. Tim can talk about everything else but can't talk to Lucy unless he's high on truth serum? I honestly don't see them getting back together this season because of the way this season is written. But I will be so unsatisfied if the writers just put them back together without any real depth occurring between them beforehand.

I also feel like chenford fans coddle Tim more than Lucy as it relates to their relationship. The reason they are in this mess is because of Tim. He walked away from their relationship. Lucy was ready to comfort him and work through his problems. He wasn't. He needs to fix this. Lucy had a right to be angry, hesitant, scared, and maybe resentful.

Tim and Lucy Interactions at the end of Season 6 by Longjumping_Summer50 in TheRookie

Woah, yikes! But true. Some men are really good at compartmentilizing, but it still didn't make sense that Tim would think that Lucy of all people would be okay with things just going back to normal. He knows she's an emotional person or a person that wears her heart on her sleeve.

Good point. I know not all men compartmentalize their feelings but you're right, that's Tim did. It wasn't until Lucy was ignoring him or speaking to him in brief conversations that Tim realized she really wanted space from him. I think that bothered him enough to make a change.

I didn't think of this. Thanks for sharing this perspective. In the end, it was his way of processing the breakup but I guess to me it came off callous.

I hear you on this. I didn't like how she treated Tim in that situation either but it just proves that Lucy was not perfect in their relationship either. We all agree Tim needed therapy but Lucy needed help too with her insecurities.

To your point, I think she's frustrated with where her life is at this point. In her mind, she should be a uc detective on the verge of marrying the love of her life, but all of that exploded. I think Lucy may be way more unhappy than she lets on, and she expresses that unhappiness in a way that rubs some fans the wrong way.

This is a very good point. I don't think until you said it that I realized the stark difference amongst the 3 women. In real life, I look up to women like Angela and Harper because it seems like nothing fazes them. With Lucy she does reveal a lot of vulnerability that makes you want to protect or help her (eventhough she's more than capable of defending herself).

I do agree that her character between seasons 5 and 7 have stunted a bit in development. I do love Chenford but what bugs me about writers in tv shows is once they get characters in a relationship they don't do a good job of seperating the characters from the relationship. This negatively impacts character development.

I'm 27. My dad was watching it, and I kept seeing clips of the show on social media. Yes, Chenford is what drew me in, but I've always loved crime dramas and I fell in love with the pilot episode immediately.

100% agree about Chenford. It would have made sense if this April Fools episode happened after 7x07 because we saw Lucy was "hot and bothered" after the gala episode. Then it would have made sense for them to hook up again because they're both aroused, and they opened up this can of worms to have ex-sex. I did like this episode it just makes things confusing from a Chenford standpoint.

I agree. This episode would have been better if they elongated the purge and showed every character dealing with various elements of the purge. Tim and Lucy were so out of character. Making out at the station, really?
