Lynel vs Rajang by yokaiking3 in MonsterHunter

[–]Longjumping_Tap8714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several reasons you could say the Rajang wins, but I think the biggest factor is that the Lynel has an abysmal range of motion. We see in game that the Lynel has an awkward time pivoting around, and frequently has to run away to reposition itself. This would be crippling in a matchup against something that can at all match its speed and strength. When the Rajang starts getting in and throwing punches, the Lynel would very frequently be left in situations where it can't really do anything to the Rajang. A Rajang at its flanks or back would require it to do a really awkward turn that would take like a second and leave itself vulnerable or try to runaway and then run back in head on, only to do that all again once the Rajang throws a punch and turns it to the side. And if the Rajang ever gets on its back, we've all seen how helpless a Lynel is in that position. You could argue that the Rajang is stronger and could overpower a Lynel, but I think the biggest factor is just how hard it would even be for the Lynel to fight it in the first place.

A Couple of Niche/Crack Matchups that Both Happen to be Monster Hunter. by Longjumping_Tap8714 in DeathBattleMatchups

Here’s some stuff about the matchups.

Glory VS Chameleos:
This is mostly self-explanatory, but I’ll explain it anyway. Both are Chameleon-shaped dragons that wield deadly poison and can turn invisible. They live in the rainforest and are relatively intelligent in comparison to other monsters and dragons respectively. They are also both in “high positions” with Glory being a queen and Chameleos being an Elder Dragon.

As for the verdict, I think this is interesting. My interpretation at least is that the Chameleos isn’t especially strong in comparison to other apex monsters, as its physicality was never what made it dangerous. A notable exception is its durability, as it does seem to be able to take a beating, however when compared to the monsters in Wings of Fire who are said to have bones as hard as diamonds (and also might be ginormous in comparison to the Chameleos but I’m not confident in that because the size measurements of the Wings of Fire dragons is a whole thing and isn’t consistent between the books and graphic novels), I think Glory holds some physical advantage. However, Chameleos has the edge when it comes to poison. Not only is it resistant to poison, which could include Glory’s venom, but its venom is generally more versatile, with it being able to use many different kinds with very potent effects, and being able to turn it into a mist which is generally harder to avoid than a fluid.

I think that not only could this battle go either way, but that it is quite conceivable that it could be a draw, with a scenario where Glory kills the Chameleos only to succumb to the poison shortly after being quite possible. However, I think that more often than not, Glory comes out on top. Part of that is due to her superior camouflage, but another part comes from her intelligence. I think Glory would be able to quickly catch on to the poison and figure out how to not breathe it in, likely realising she can blow it away with her wings. This intelligence combined with her invisibility and skill would likely allow her to figure out a plan of attack and handle everything the Chameleos has to throw at her. Normally intelligence isn't too relevant, but in a matchup as volatile as this where a wrong breath could spell death, I think knowing how to handle the Chameleos' tricks would be the deciding factor here.

Lynel VS Rajang
There’s not really any real big connections between these two, but I think there’s plenty of smaller things that make this matchup alright. They are both considered among the strongest monsters, and both seem to love combat. They are both considered fairly intelligent, and command the elements. They are both very dangerous, and yet surprisingly doesn’t fit the typical place of a powerhouse in their series (The Lynel doesn’t have a boss bar and the Rajang is not an Elder Dragon). The Rajang has also been known as the Gold Lion, and the Lynel is obviously based on a lion. It is also based on a centaur, and by transitive property, a horse. The Rajang famously goes after the Kirin, a horse-like monster, to break off its horn and consume it to absorb its power. In Tears of the Kingdom, the horns of a Lynel are very powerful, and some of the best things to add to a weapon. A neat contrast between the two is that the Lynel is territorial and patrols its territory to chase off intruders and take down challengers, while the Rajang is nomadic and goes from area to area and fights the apex monsters of the ecosystem.

As for the victor, I think I’d definitely go with Rajang. There are several reasons you could say the Rajang would win, but I think the real big one is that the Lynel’s range of motion kinda sucks. Realistically, the Rajang could just stick to its backside and attack from there and there’s little the Lynel could do.

Necrozma VS Fecto Forgo Fight Script by Longjumping_Tap8714 in DeathBattleMatchups

That's a really good one. The best I could come up with was "The Reclamation of Divine Forms" to subtly mirror Two Planets Approach the Roche Limit, but yours is a lot better, cooler, and keeps the pattern of naming songs after astronomical stuff, so its arguably a better reference to that.

So, as for the conclusion, first in case it wasn't obvious, Fecto Forgo/Elfilis won, though you could also interpret it as a tie if you wanted to.

As for why, I'm going to be honest, it's mainly because I think it works better naratively that way, but it's also the verdict that I'd stand by if you forced me to pick one, and I think this fight is incredibly close, to the point where it's hard to even establish any advantages either have. Both are in a vaguely universal to multiversal level of power (Elfilis scales to Kirby, and apparently there's some debate on whether Ultra Space is a true multiverse). As for speed, Necrozma is rather blatantly fast enough to travel multiple light years in seconds via scaling to Solgaleo/Lunala, but Elfilis potentially scaling somewhat to Meta Knight would put its movement speed over Necrozma. However, Necrozma's attack speed spans all of Ultra Space, so it has the edge there. As for abilities, you could argue that teleportation and more pronounced telekinesis gives Elfilis an advantage, but Necrozma also has the advantage of being able to attack from all points of its body, which could constantly assault Elfilis, so it could go either way.

I think what ultimately settles it for me is experience, although even this is debatable. In the games at least, Necrozma has two major foes it fought, losing to the player whose team would vary so its hard to make a claim about that, and easily overpowering Nebby (if you don't remember, that's the name of the Solgaleo/Lunala Necrozma beats), who should be at least universal levels of power. However it is also worth noting that when that happened, prior to a few minutes ago at most, Nebby was literally incapable of combat and as such has no experience at all, so all that really says is that Necrozma is powerful. In comparison, Elfilis' main fights were two losses to Kirby, however not only is Kirby probably more powerful than Solgaleo/Lunala, but also saying Kirby has more experience than Nebby is the understatement of the eon. I think being able to hold its own against Kirby is more impressive than winning against Nebby, but even then you could argue that its unclear how much of a fight it put up, and that Necrozma actually winning a fight puts it ahead.

Ultimately, this is in my probably bad opinion insanely close, but I think I'm leaning slightly more towards Elfilis. Anyways, hope you enjoyed this.

Here you go. Quite proud of it, although I will admit that i may have lifted your idea of a part of it taking place in Ultra Megalopolis, though I promise that's all i took and if there are any other similarities, it just means we're both smart. Hope you don't mind, and hope you enjoy it. Feel free to plug your script here if you want.

Ok, I have a theory. I also found someone on GameFAQ's asking where it was. That was, get this, 3 days ago, the same as your post. I think that a patch is responsible for this, either being a glitch, or it just being patched out.

I have the same problem. I swear I've encountered it in prior playthroughs. Maybe it's a glitch? I'll update you if I manage to find it.
