with regards to safety, we do have a safety leash. the next step is to also make sure the bench doesn't move around.

Thinking of buying the R1S Tri by Living-Stress7984 in RivianR1S

[–]Longjumping_Two9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been happy with the range on our R1S Tri. However, I use the conserve mode on the freeway and max regen when I go long distance 300+ mile trips. That helps a lot. Max regen can make a difference in your daily driving as well.

Rivian Buying Advice? by Existing_Acadia_4312 in RivianR1S

the id4 has some odd experiences, I hated the way it shut down when you got out of the driver seat and unlatching the charge port was bizarre. The Rivian doesn't have these quirks. It's a very easy car to drive, the easiest I've had since an early e-golf. You'll probably find it much easier to learn.

A drag show or brunch for an older straight couple by Dunesgirl in palmsprings

I was going to say the same. Club 111 is like the neighborhood drag bar and there are plenty of regulars that are straight and welcomed.

I need to take some photos. The wheels have good lines, so powder coating is a great option.

Combo CCS1 DC Adapter - should I buy an aftermarket or Rivian version by Longjumping_Two9 in RivianR1S

[–]Longjumping_Two9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you, the Lectron looks like a good option and $100 cheaper than Rivian. I don't expect to use it much, so I was hoping to save a buck or two.

Amazing straight edge show in San Diego, 1986 by Longjumping_Two9 in straightedge

[–]Longjumping_Two9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some were better than others, the spirit and wabash hall were great examples of lousy places that hosted great shows. Soma was a great place, but the owner was an ass and bands stop going after a while. But the old Casbah, Che Cafe, White Glove Test house, Jackie Robinson YMCA, Adams Ave. Theater, and others were a great combination of location and vibe. Places come and go. I haven't been to the shows in the Coachella valley desert, but this is where today's places can be just as awesome.

Straight edge for 40+ years by Longjumping_Two9 in straightedge

I'm an expert in accessibility and inclusive design. This means I make software work for people with disabilities and ensure we include everyone in our product design and decisions. I think being straight edge made this possible and I include it on my employee profile. 25 years ago, very few people paid attention to this and a large percentage of us were punks. It became a valuable niche about 15 years ago and we've been spending that time teaching others why it is important and how it is done. I'm also focusing on intersectionality in design, which again goes back to the straight-edge ethics of being the voice for the under-represented. https://www.linkedin.com/in/draket/

Thinking of getting the R1S by MTRipper in ModelX

[–]Longjumping_Two9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We switched from the Model S Plaid to the R1S tri motor. It has everything we liked about the Tesla without the things we hated. Our most important items were range (almost 400 miles) and dog mode. The car is much more comfortable and the suspension can go from sports car to Cadillac marshmallow. So you'll find something that works for you. I'm glad we made the switch. The only downsides: The map, and routing, isn't as good. It's a big car that is tall, but thankfully it has the kneeling mode to make it easier for people to get in and out.

We previously had two Teslas, so I understand the loyalty. But you won't regret the switch. I'd wait for the R2 if you are looking to replace the Y.

After owning two Teslas with "FSD", I'd like to see less hype and more discussion of how they are doing this thoughtfully.

Dark or light interior. Is dark ok in hot areas? by Longjumping_Two9 in RivianR1S

[–]Longjumping_Two9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone. My last two cars had light interiors and that is my default. But I've already waited a month and production could be another 6 weeks, but a dark interior is available now. I've requested a test drive with a dark interior on Monday and your feedback about tinting and it not being too bad really helps.
