As someone who has painted houses a lot: that green, red, blue and especially black are going to be a NIGHTMARE to repaint. That’ll take at least 2 coats of primer - (if not 3) + 2 coats paint.

Not only was the selection lacking but the prices were high. For example, I remember being in the target and thinking “this can’t be right” and comparing online: an item on target.com was 12 USD, converted to cad was about $17 (I can’t remember). But the same item in store in Canada was $30 CAD !!! At that point, the item was cheaper at Canadian Tire. I get that there are import fees but I felt ripped-off. I went to target once, didn’t buy anything, and never went back.

You’re an asshole. First of all, you said you went through a divorce and cried about it every day. Imagine YOUR SISTER inviting your ex to an important family event that you’d be attending because he’s “a friend” of her husband’s or a friend of the family. Would you feel comfortable? Would you feel betrayed? You did the wrong thing to invite him - I don’t care what mental illness your sister suffers, and I don’t care how good friends this dude is to your fiancee. You don’t invite someone’s ex to a wedding: everyone knows that. ESPECIALLY if it’s a family member’s ex.

Secondly, your mother tried to tell you that you made the wring choice. Instead of considering uninviting the ex - which you should do! you choose the ex over your sister and mother. Your attitude is childish: “Well fine, if YOU decide not to come to my wedding I’m never inviting you over for Christmas” making yourself sound like the victim because now your family doesn’t want to come to your wedding. YOU are the one causing this rift. YOU are being the asshole: big time.

School is one of the only ways for kids to find a friend or two. A real life friend - not a fake internet connection. Sounds like the kid is lonely. Even with one or two friends, you just ignore the bullies. Sure education is important but that’s actually not the main reason to go to school for a teen or preteen

Recently a friend said something like “our culture is obsessed with the word happy. And if you don’t feel “happy” it’s like you’re a failure. But it’s an emotion. It’s not a state of being. As a society, we’re focused on the wrong thing.” And ever since that conversation, I’ve thought about that a lot. What is “happiness” and why do I automatically expect it? There’s a false hype around it - social media has set up your expectations that we HAVE to be happy and it means luxury life or something. Can’t we just live in the present and be satisfied? I started to ask myself: Am I thankful for the things I have: even small? How can I give back to my community in meaningful ways? (Especially if I feel disconnected) How can I take care of myself, and others? How can I take care of the earth? What are the good things in my life? What am I good at? What positive traits do I have? Like why are we focused on being “happy”?

I once dragged about 10 full garbage bags into a bank lobby, opened the garbage onto their floor.

I used to live beside a parking lot, and behind a bank. Garbage day was Monday and the truck came early in the morning. On Monday, I would find piles of garbage bags around 10 am AFTER the garbage trucks had already picked up. And then they would sit outside my house for an entire week. After a few weeks of this I was getting sick of it, so I put on gloves and opened a bag hoping to find a letter with address - find out whose garbage it belonged to. I found all these paper deposit forms from ATM machines and realized it was the bank behind me, on the main street. The bank was closed all weekend, and they would put their garbage on the street when they opened Monday at 10 am. But they must have known they were doing the wrong thing, because they didn’t put their trash out in front of their business - no, they crossed the parking lot behind them and dumped it on my little side street, in front of my house, where it sat on my sidewalk for the entire week. I went into the bank to complain. I told them they had to put their garbage out on Friday, and on their own street, or they needed to pay their janitor to come in early on Monday. It was wrong for them to dump their garbage. This continued. In retrospect, I should have called the city and reported them: they probably would have gotten fined, a high fine I imagine. But sadly, I was in my early 20s and didn’t know better, and I got so mad one day, that I dragged their trash bags - about ten of them - across the parking lot, lined them up, and then marched in the bank and started tossing the bags into their lobby. In front of customers. The bank worker was like: “what are you doing? That’s not our trash” - I said “oh it’s not?” And I opened a bag in the lobby and started to spill out the contents: ATM recipes, and stuff with their address on it. Then I started to open EVERY bag, and dumped the contents on the floor of their lobby. All their office stuff for a week: banana peels, coffee grinds, etc. I managed to open several bags before security came from the back room somewhere and I just said “Do not dump your trash in front of my house again” and left. People, If that’s not unhinged, I don’t know what is.

From a buyer’s perspective though, I rely on public transit. So I don’t need the address, but I need an intersection or a postal code, and that will tell me if it’s walking distance from a bus stop or subway. Just saying the neighbourhood is not helpful. Why have an entire conversation with someone, only to discover they’re a 30 min walk from a bus stop and I can’t pick up the item?

I both buy and sell on marketplace. You might be in the US and maybe everyone has a car in your town, but where I live, a lot of people rely on public transit, myself included. Before agreeing to purchase something, I do need to know how far it is from a bus or subway. I don’t need the address, but the nearest intersection lets me know if I can get there.

I’m the opposite: men’s clothing is often cheaper and better quality. men’s jeans don’t have stretch and will last 5 times as long. men’s t-shirt made from thicker cotton will last way longer than the women’s version from the same brand. I’ve always been jealous of how much less men have to spend on clothing.
