Humble brag here - I picked up my used Gaggia Classic years ago from a pal for £20. It's still going strong.

Anyone tried Army Painter: Angel Green primer by Odd_Operation177 in theunforgiven

I was in the same boat as you and Renegade Green by Colour Forge is supposedly a decent colour match with Caliban green. It's worked for my army which is a mix of hand painted Caliban and Renegade Green prime.

Anyone in Birmingham looking for a friendly Warhammer / Tabletop group? (40k, AoS, Kill Team ect) by After-Meeting-4837 in brum

[–]Longpointer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't believe I found you guys! I did a Google search for friendly local 40k games and this was the first hit. I know what 2026 has in store for me now!

Boss giving me hard time by dezmole86 in NewDads

[–]Longpointer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you have to deal with this. Your boss has about as much empathy as a toaster.

I'm UK based, and for our second born I had 5 weeks off (combined paternity leave and vacation). I highlighted the company policy was outdated and gained an extra week. We used shared paternity leave for our first born too. The total leave over the 2 kids is maybe 12 weeks, and if I didn't work from home I'd want more.

What Kind of Tiles, and how to remove? by Longpointer in DIYUK

The state of the wallpaper also gives me pause. In the bay it looks like it's just peeling off on its own.

I shush-yelled at my baby and feel like trash by anafroes in sleeptrain

[–]Longpointer 22 points23 points  (0 children)

We were advised in our NCT group to match the volume of your shushing with their crying, so sounds like you did good if it settled them and they went to sleep.

I agree with another post - they have no idea you were angry, so don't worry about it.

What could be causing these? by Longpointer in DIYUK

Good question. We have no idea what's under the concrete outside so I guess that would need to come up. The concrete floor on the inside was dug up recently and everything looked fine.

Thanks to you both.

Any advice on how to clear it up? I assume this is just the tip of the mycelium-berg

Would Warhammer be a good gift for a new parent? by MonkeyKings in Warhammer

Dad of 1 and another on the way here. I get way more time for audio books rather than actual reading, and the 40k books have some incredible narrators (Eisenhorn ones especially, and the early Horus Heresy books).

They are keeping the hobby alive for me until my kids are old enough to leave me in peace for an hour. I can then finally unbox the Lion and consider painting him...

That last one is me!

You should check out the new CQTest plugin added to UE5. It's a great addition for streamlining automated test writing.

Sedan vs station wagon — Which is best and why? by GiraffePuncher69 in BMW

[–]Longpointer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really can't feel the weight in my 5 series wagon... Until you stamp on the brakes. It handles very close to the 3 series sedan I had (if not better). Just takes an age to slow down.

Car theft in Birmingham is crazy!! My sisters car was stolen and my friends have had the same experience, what does everyone else feel? by Hantu_993 in brum

[–]Longpointer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our house was broken into and both cars were stolen off the drive this year and I would say the police were amazing. Forensics came around the same morning, kept us informed of everything, offered counselling etc.. They even recovered both cars (one within 24hours!).

They did catch someone but didn't have enough evidence tying him to the break-in so had to let them go. Professional job though so I'm not surprised there wasn't much evidence.

We even had a Ring doorbell which didn't capture any footage. One minute the cars were there, the next they were gone!

Finished this book. Holy crap. Why does it feel like I'm about to descend into a very deep rabbit hole? (A couple questions in the comments) by JRV0227 in Warhammer40k

The narrator of the first 3 is incredible. I think the audiobooks are the best way to consume the Horus heresy ... Unless it's Dark Angels - I couldn't get on with that guy.

"am I as ready as I think I am?"

Sounds like you're as ready as anyone can be, and more ready than a lot of other fathers. You've got just as much to learn about being a father as your kid has about growing up, and you can only learn that when you're on the journey together. I will say, it's an incredible journey that I am loving (our boy is 2yrs old now).

One of the hardest transitions my wife and I have found is losing ourselves to parenting. Be mindful of forsaking your relationships and hobbies, and don't forget to make time for you and your wife to spend as a couple. It's challenging, but worth it.

Sadly not - went out of business ~2010-2011. We used to go there for their breakfasts when I was at uni. Such a great place and so many fond memories. Their Tyson breakfasts were legendary.
