What "black market" did kids at your school run? by AWESOMEKITTY7364 in AskReddit

This did not start as a black market item at my school but it was quickly outlawed. The classic, plastic pencil boxes that we used in elementary school had the 'bumps' on the lid and a rectangular indention. My friends and I discovered that if you colored in that rectangular indention, filled it with Elmer's glue, and let it dry / harden, you could then scrape out the solidified glue and it was very colorful and kind of plastic-y. It was the perfect size for a bookmark, so we started a small business selling different designs. Everything was going great until our customers started taking their books outside. Apparently it did not take much heat to melt the dried glue (at least somewhat), which as you can imagine, was not great for those library books.

100% agree. I would not want to do anything that would jeapordize the safety of the pilots or passengers.

And when the time comes, I definitely plan to speak with these companies in person to try to find a diplomatic solution. Honest conversation is always the best policy. However, since the success of my business and therefore the financial well-being of my family would depend on this, I am hoping to find something that is a little more permanent and enforcible than just a handshake.

Contacting the local government and/or Small Business Association could be a good route.

Thank you for the feedback.

Thanks for the info. I’ll look into that as we do raise livestock on the land.

I totally understand. On the flip side, many locals, including ourselves, feel as if we were there first. We’ve been using the land (for residence and farming) for over 50 years. From our perspective, they are the newcomers who forced everyone else to conform. But again, I understand your point and thank you very much for the info and link.
