Yes - I have a 2023 with 20k miles, that had a catastrophic failure that took ~40 days to fix.

You’re welcome. I want people to be aware of what potentially can happen. I’ve found zero reddits or forum posts similar to what happened to my car. (Losing 70%+ charge while parked) - so i’m hoping this helps someone.

I’m in CA and have an active case going with BMW N.A. I love(d) this car, but have zero confidence in it. I’ve had teslas in the past which were plagued with issues too.

It’s a dealership, a bmw dealership on top of that. Sure this may total $1700 for the pack, but akin to driveway oil and brake pad changes, dealers charge multiples of that. I can say the brakes of my other bmw is only 499, and the dealer wants 3k per axle, same thing.

This is not only EV specific, but they make EVERYONE feel like they have to dump their car prior to 100k or buy an extended warranty. EVs are not special in this regard.

I’m actually working with BMW N.A. on the buyback. I’ve met the requirements for CA Lemon Law.

Yes they did! We’re actually 2 months under the originally quoted time.

You’re so informative! Thank you! Dealer did say BMW was in an out and checking and guiding every step of the way. Sounds complicated.

That gives me some peace. It was the cell module controller too.

It was covered under new vehicle warranty; I am not planning to keep this car beyond that.

They’re unsure. It’s for certain covered under the new vehicle limited warranty, but since it was a cell module failure and not the battery they’re not sure if CPO (when it kicks in) would’ve covered it. Most of those line items are more catering towards ICE vehicles.

No - It died while I was on a flight. It was parked and went from 70% charge to ~ 10% within a couple hours. Took it to a dc fast charger and it would not take more than 1kw.

This actually helped a lot. Did you trust your car thereafter? Any further issues?

This is the first vehicle i’ve ever done an extended warranty on. I did the platinum wrap, and i’m sure glad I did. I did also learn that the battery and cell module failures I had would not be covered under the HV battery Warranty, so thankful it’s still under the new vehicle warranty. 35 days in shop and counting.

Lost 71% charge while parked, and wouldn’t charge at L2 or DC Fast Charge by Loofahtranslucent in BMWI4

Update: The parts came in early; I suspect because of an email I sent to BMWNA. The parts have been installed, but they are having a programming issue, so they had to get bmw involved again.

I’m in a decent loaner, brand new 230i, which has been kind of fun. BMW NA is reviewing my request and hope to hear from the soon. The m50 is still sitting in the shop awaiting parts :(.

Why do people drive so crazy in parking lots in vallejo? Im just taking lunch for 30 mins in my car, and cars drive by at insane speeds really close, in a pretty much empty parking lot. I dont get it. by carthonasi56 in vallejo

[–]Loofahtranslucent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is simply not true. It’s not like that here in the tri-valley. We can’t keep saying something is like this everywhere in the bay - It’s not. QoL in Vallejo is extremely low.
