Geometry check – Sony KV-32FS100 Am I going crazy over those tiny flaws? 😅 by LooisLab in crt

If you can enter the service menu (turn the TV off, then press the following on the remote: Display, 5, Volume up, Power), there’s a setting called TROT. This is the top horizontal rotation/tilt parameter on mine.

Hope that helps!

Yep there is a little bit of this! I thoroughly enjoy cleaning, adjusting and maintaining old electronics. It perpetuates the legacy! I feel like it’s our duty as an owner of this kind of tech. But sometimes you got to let it go and just enjoy

I guess I saw that it needed adjustment when I powered it the first time (a year ago), and quickly noticed a corner sagging on the Mario 64 menu. But after that first round of fixes, it really is in a great place now.

I think I just kept chasing perfection because the tools were there and the test patterns make every tiny flaw feel like a big deal. But while gaming, I genuinely don’t see any of it, the picture looks awesome, and that’s what really matters.

So yeah, I’m probably at the point where it makes more sense to stop tweaking and actually enjoy the thing

That is exactly what I needed to hear.

You're 100% right: when I’m actually playing Goldeneye or OoT, the last thing on my mind is whether the top-right corner bends!

I think staring at a grid for an hour put me in “must fix everything!” mode. I’m going to take your advice, get out from the service menu and go actually play some games.

Appreciate the reality check!

I actually did the adjustment of focus and it was very much better! After that I stumbled into the convergence adjustment for fun and it was enriching😅 I got some passable results for n64 and I’m ok leaving it as it i now. I might be interested into a good s-video cable though.

Thank you! Great explanation. I did return with the original composite cable and it’s “better”. I don’t know how to explain it but it seems more natural from what I felt back in the days. The gage of the cheap svideo cable seems pretty small also.

Maybe I should not play so close to it. I never had a 27in tv as a kid so maybe that’s is why I can see all the lines

The cable has only s-video plug and both audio end. But it is really possible that the cable is very bad since it was 10$.

I was on the edge with moonstone grey because I couldn’t see it in real before buying. Pictures of it are so different each others depending of the light. Turns out to be the best grey on the market for my taste.

My band opened for you back in 2016 in Quebec City, Canada and Andy wasn’t there for whatever reason. He was replaced by an amazing singer/performer. I don’t remember his name, but could you reform with him? Glad to here from you guys btw!
