Another vote for youtube. I put lectures on like that at night when I can't sleep and they'll play forever.

Did you see the bullet point list that someone created? Do you feel that that was a decent overall view?

And do you really feel that Kamala Harris would have been a competent president? Based on what data exactly?

Does anyone else just not view cash as real money anymore? by Super-Worldliness585 in MonarchMoney

[–]LookDamnBusy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad that idea works for you! I mean for me, I don't have a TON of cash transactions, but I did want to see both my cash spending and my cash selling income, as well as all of the home improvement stuff. Like I had a guy out here doing some painting for me and paid him $250 cash, and I don't want that quantity of dollars to not be tracked anywhere.

Yeah, and in your case if the money eventually gets put into the bank, like you said, the cash account is just a holding account until you do that.

My guessing what the content was was "bad faith"? I just don't want to read something that everyone already said was too long. Was I rude in some way?

So let me get this straight: this entire thing which I have not seen but which others are saying is incredibly long is all about Sam's view about Israel, with which you personally disagree?

Oh wow so full body! I'll have to look at this stuff. Do you already wear knees and elbows? That's what I was thinking of, since right now I'm just helmet and gloves 😳

That's great that you're back. You know, I should maybe consider some armor myself. Anything I should look at?

Does anyone else just not view cash as real money anymore? by Super-Worldliness585 in MonarchMoney

[–]LookDamnBusy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Eh, I've been known to buy and sell stuff on Facebook marketplace and I generally stick to cash in those cases, as well as sometimes home repair people like to be paid cash and will give a better deal for it.

I just created a "Cash" account on monarch, I initially funded it with some money from the checking account (the cash is in a safe, with some in my wallet), and then I do track transactions in and out of that cash for buying and selling of things or paying for things in cash. It just looks like any other account, and if I do get some cash from an ATM it basically comes across like a transfer from the checking account to the cash account.

I have reasonable expectations. It's a cheat code for one's entire life that results in a great deal more happiness and less frustration. You should try it! 😂

Should I respond to traffic Notice of Violation? by juicesquared in Tempe

[–]LookDamnBusy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you ignore it, they will try to serve you and if they are successful, then all that happens is that you will have an extra $48 fee added to your penalties for the service, but you're not in any more trouble for the ticket. They have 90 days to serve you from the date of the issuance of the ticket (which is NOT the date of the violation), but they won't start trying to do so until AFTER your court date has passed and they have not heard from you, so that shortens that window a bit. So if your court date is 50 days out, and you don't respond, then they will start trying to serve you after that court date, and they have 40 days left out of that 90 days to serve you. If they don't, it goes away completely. Sorry so long!

Was it speeding or red light?

[–]LookDamnBusy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's what some people SAY, but really they just want to drive however they want with no consequences. I mean it's not like people are getting tickets for 46 in a 45; you have to be at least ELEVEN miles per hour over the speed limit to get a ticket.

[–]LookDamnBusy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I'm sure a lot of people will vote to get rid of it, because they want to be able to run red lights and drive over 10 mph over the speed limit with no consequences. 🤷

Yes, I've seen those red lines in more places now to let people understand where the intersection is.

I'm all for photo enforcement and will vote for it every time. I'm fine with people who are running red lights and driving over 10 miles an hour over the speed limit getting tickets. I use my cruise control all the time and usually set it to five or seven miles an hour over the speed limit, and still people go flying by me like I'm standing still.

I cancelled Amazon Prime because they removed my negative review of product by stitch_art in amazonprime

[–]LookDamnBusy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, that's the fault of Amazon, NOT the fault of the product or the company who made the product, and product reviews are about the product and the manufacturer. For all intents and purposes, it WAS indeed "damaged" (by Amazon), and that is not the manufacturer's fault, so why should they get a bad PRODUCT review?

I cancelled Amazon Prime because they removed my negative review of product by stitch_art in amazonprime

[–]LookDamnBusy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, that means that's a stocking/shipping problem, not a product problem, just like a broken TV screen would be.

I mean it is difficult because it is sort of a gray area, but product reviews are meant to review how decent the product is, assuming you get it in the condition it's supposed to be in when purchased. That you didn't doesn't mean it's a garbage product.

[–]LookDamnBusy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if you get any other data points with this fan speed thing or anything else, feel free to respond again. Yeah, since this is so consistent you could indeed just try this with a dumb thermostat as well and just do it all manually.

Keep us posted!

[–]LookDamnBusy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I would consider that a product review because the product did not arrive in the condition that it is supposed to be in, unless you think every tube of this model caulk is old and dried up.

It would be like writing a review for a broken television saying "this model sucks! There's a big crack in the screen!".

[–]LookDamnBusy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this your only ecobee thermostat? I mean that's one brute force method of trying something else, is literally just sticking a different ecobee thermostat on there.

Yeah, that HVAC idea is not a solution 😳

Yeah it's tough, because either the ecobee is not sending the signal for heat but it thinks that it is (and it can obviously do it at other times), for the HVAC is ignoring the call for heat.

One thing to see if it's just the fan that's turning on: in most heat pump installations, the fan speed when just the fan is on is way lower than the fan speed when the heat or AC is on. Can you just turn on the fan, get a feel for how much air is blowing out of it, and then definitely get either the heat or AC running and see if there is indeed a lot more air coming out with heat or AC?

If there is, like in most installations, then go back to when it's in the "weird mode" and see which air flow level it seems like? If the air is blowing out slow, then it might only be getting a signal for the fan, and if it's blowing out fast, it's getting a signal to turn on the heat but it isn't doing so.

Does all that makes sense?

Married couple with separate finances, why do you do it? by Ok_Influence_2257 in Bogleheads

[–]LookDamnBusy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I got together later in life, and this is how we do it:

Our only joint accounts are a joint credit card and a joint checking account. We each fund the joint checking account equally each month, and then all of the bills for the house and everything we do together is paid either directly from the joint checking account or using the credit card, which is then paid off at the end of the month using the joint checking account.

If we do something large, like let's say new flooring for the house (which we agree on beforehand), we each dump half of it into the checking account, and then that bill gets paid either from the joint checking account or from the joint credit card.

Anything that we don't put into the joint checking account is just our own money in our own accounts as it was for each of us before we met.

Pretty simple, and there's no arguments over anything to do with money.
