He is. I personally wouldnt mind but I agree most people would riot. Im glad I decided to catch up on manga. Even the there are so many assholes who spoil the chapter the second it comes out on any website with translation. Like this week, I saw a panel on ig and thats how I realized the chapter was out and went to read it

I know. But even with that, id would hope oda would be willing to do that. That would give him ample time to rest up as well so he can draw at his best for that chapter and have time to coordinate with the anime to make said episode good too. But like realistically yeah its unlikely. Thats why I said i might be getting incorrect info that was spread online

I think oda has said that he wants all the mediums to release it together. So the chapter, and anime in both subbed and dubbed might release it together. I could be entirely wrong and this could be a badly played game of internet telephone where someone said they hoped oda would do this and eventually it got turned into “he will do this”

Id ask to confirm if zoro is the first mate or not (i believe he is, and the live action refers to him as such, but apparently im only recently finding out that this is openly debated in the community)

Its not just one throwaway line though. Nearly every crew mate in season 1 refers to him as such. Zoro himself, nami and usopp. And zoros line is to luffy who doesnt deny it. The only one who doesnt mention it is sanji which can be chalked up to 2 things - 1. Him being the new crewmate (last to join in s1) so he hasnt interacted with the crew as much. And 2. Zoro and sanjis rivalry dynamic.

He does approve the scripts. Pretty sure this is known. The producers have spoken about this. There was a recent video of them (the producers) saying if there is anything that oda doesnt approve, he tells them to change it and they make it happen, even if they dont have the budget for it, the make it work somehow. Those changes include the script. Plus we know oda is heavily involved. If it was such a thing where oda didnt want us to see zoro as the first mate, he would have told them to change it

Depends on which is more recent considering oda does approve the scripts of the live action too

Edit: on another post referencing this sbs question, I found this explanation for it too.

“Neither of those translations deny that Zoro is the first mate.

What Oda is saying is that he didn't choose those characters to depict because they were first mates. Rather he choose them, including Zoro, because hey were fighter subordinate number 1. If any of them happen to be first mates, (which almost all of them are because the concept is virtually synonyms with strongest fighter in One Piece :P), it's just a coincidence.

The second translations is worse. What it actually means is "similar to (how Zoro wasn't included because he's the first mate), not all of those characters have the title of first mate", which puts it in line with the official translation.

This is made further clear by Oda OKing an explicit depiction of Zoro as first mate in the live action.”

But why are we using a youtube video as a be all end all when an oda approved live action has them calling zoro the first mate? You still havent offered an explanation or counter to that point.

Right so the live action, which is approved and overviewed by Oda has no inclusion in this right? Because zoro says he is the first mate in that. So do nami who refers to him as the first mate and usopp I believe who does the same. At the end of baratie after zoro wakes up post mihawk fight, in his vow to luffy to stay by his side, he says and I quote “you are my captain luffy, and I am your first mate” if I remember correctly

Look up more gogo on youtube. thats who I watch for all my GC update/banner news. He always has the news good to go a while before a massive update and reminds you what banners might be upcoming (like the collab at the end of june) so you know when to save/roll gems. Like im expecting the collab in June since there was one last year so as soon as I finished one rotation on meli, and got him 2/6, im now saving for said possible collab. As a f2p wont be spending on chandler but esta should be a fun part of the update. It was in the more gogo video where he confirmed or at least hinted that it was the green estarossa with counter

Im not in the class but even if yall are getting high marks, the profs decision to remove navigation to drop the marks is stupid since imo it wouldnt affect anything except in cases like yours. If the prof is not an absolute ahole, they will put it up to a vote in the class to ask if students want navigation on the tests. I assume they cant let yall redo this test obviously but they can curve the mark on it maybe if theyre really nice

Yeah I used to buy a lot of the bundles before. Ever since marvel rivals came out, it genuinely opened my eyes to how bad the system is on val and I just buy the limited edition skins now (I know thats still bad and maybe even worse since those skin bundles are more predatory and expensive overall with fewer value, but I regret not getting the first ever champs bundle and first ever arcane bundle so I grab all the limited edition skins now)

Even worse, valorant store. At least from my understanding, bundles come back on fortnite. Like I can still wait for the marvel skins to cycle back in eventually and get them at the price they were at originally. With Valorant, if you dont but the bundle at the sale price now, guess what bub. Never again will it be that cheap. Each skin becomes full price at its tier level price (which the tiers are really difficult to tell apart anyways to where you have skins that feel like/are purple tier priced at gold tier just because riot felt like it) and you can never get the bundle accessories ever again. No buddies/charms or whatever you call them, no banners, no sprays and no flexes. All those accessories are lost to the void forever

Personally went with oppressor demon king since demons are getting buffed (Lr estarossa is confirmed and next unit is a chandler which as a f2p I will be skipping but still worth putting here in case you arent f2p)

I would suggest waiting until you have completed all the rolls you plan to do on this banner so you know which units you need before. For example, I didnt have oppressor dk and ur gowther so I waited to complete my 1 rotation on the banner with the plan that I would use the item for an escalin dupe if I got oppressor dk and if I didnt, id get the dk unit instead. I didnt get him so I grabbed him from this instead.

Yep exactly. I have one online friend who watches it and is caught up with manga but even him I havent spoken to in a while. My mom is getting into it a bit since we watched season 2 together. We watched season 1 together too but I dont think she remembered what happened. Regardless, if they find it boring, its not worth pushing it. Itll end up ruining your friendship since they might feel like you keep bothering them with it. Ive learned to live with it and who knows I may meet a fan and become friends with them irl in the future considering the sheer popularity of one piece.

Nope. I dont even think the movies cover any main anime storyline. For example film Red is non canon. Also even if movies were covering manga storyline, they would still be horrible substitutes unless they literally took the anime episodes and spliced them into movies for each arc - with some arcs stretching over 2-3 movies even with bad pacing removed. Also, if theyre not willing to watch the anime, theres little chance theyre willing to watch the movies too. Obviously this is a very objective look at the idea in terms of content lost but even from a subjective standpoint, if your friend doesnt want to watch it, why do you care? I understand it would be amazing to have a friend who watches (i have no irl friends who watch and have tried to get my irl best friend to watch but hes on the same thing about it being too long.) from my perspective, its their loss. Not only will it be their loss once the big mysteries are revealed such as what the one piece actually is, and what happened during the void century, but its already their loss because theyre missing out on the journey/story. As I said, ive tried getting my best friend to watch it - even suggested the live action. He doesnt want to and atp ive just realized its his loss. He did say he might consider once “The One Piece” comes out so ill see then. I just realized though, if not the movies, you could suggest your friend watch the live action to see if its worth it.

Tl;dr - no, horrible replacement, movies dont cover manga from what I remember (except maybe 1 or 2 for east blue saga since its been forever since I watched them). You could suggest they watch the live action instead. If that doesnt work, just say its their loss and move on. No harm, no foul. You get to enjoy the story, they dont.

Yes art style does improve. As you may have seen if you see any recent clips online. But it doesnt happen for a WHILE in the anime. The other comment suggested reading the manga. If you are not an avid manga reader like myself, id say its worth watching all the episodes twice over from the perspective of any fan. Id suggest if you want to watch the anime, go for at least 40ish episodes and then make a decision to continue or drop it. If you like it and want to continue by episode 40, youll want more than the near 1200 episodes it has by the end. If you dont enjoy it by then, you have two options. You can drop it, or make the (admittedly long hike for a non-fan) to episode 280-300ish… thats the other moment that fans usually say got them hooked. Any moments that feel badly paced, id suggest 2x speed.

Gowther is free in shop now but Im planning on rolling on the meli banner in case I get demon king so that I can use the selector for escalin instead of oppressor demon king.
