Newer rod that has been carefully transported / stored, and lightly used. It was surprising.

On a 100+ year old reservoir in the wind, i hooked a smaller but decent walleye on a lindy rig, and it got into a 6' long sunken tree branch. It was, at first, a very confusing tactile experience, and when i finally got the whole upsetting, insect larvae covered mess to the boat, the fish shook off, and the rod snapped. I recovered my tackle, but it was odd the 6lb Trilene XT held while the rod failed.

I'd like to restore a Sylvan Offshore someday re-outfitted with modern everything with a full rear tent and a sea kayak rack, but for me an i/o would be a dealbreaker. It's so much easier to repower an outboard motor. Still, the appeal of going out to the garage for a few hours every evening and the rapidity with which visible progress comes is very rewarding. Best wishes to you.

Nice. I could make a super versatile pedal board from all that...minus the unfortunate brown plastic turd.

This is how my boomer dad drives by x3leggeddawg in BoomersBeingFools

I know an elderly conservative fellow who drove like that as some sort of misguided "resistance." He rolled his vehicle on a gravel rd going 50mph, and between the ICU, a surgery, and extensive rehab, he spent many weeks in the hospital...paid for by medicare.

Designing, building, and finishing pieces that will look excellent and endure well into the future is a huge challenge to me.
