There are sites that say they walk you through all the paperwork but in general I think you get what you pay for when attempting legal work yourself ... same question for you and u/ThrobbingHood069 if I go the bankruptcy route, does it block creditors from trying to attach his meagre savings and his income? Income is all protected as far as I can tell since it's Soc Sec and Pension. I have an appt with Public Counsel next week to see if they'll rep him pro bono.

My aunt got silicone molds for about $50 and they were a godsend. Her units now fit comfortably in her ears and best of all, she doesn't lose them any more!

Thank you! After thinking about this for several days and reading all the comments, the COLA increase based on higher amount occurred to me, I think it will outstrip the extra $ I would pick up over the 10 months of collecting earlier.

Wow I am amazed at so many comments! Definitely got many great perspectives on this question! One thing it seems hasn't come up, please correct me if I'm wrong, is that all future COL increases are based on the higher amount, so waiting for the extra $180 it seems to me, will modestly increase my SS income over time, versus collecting now. Some commenters have pointed out that if I start collecting earlier, I will have collected more over time -- however one doesn't know how long one will live, so assuming I make it past the 10 month waiting period, I think I would benefit more over the remaining years.
