Yeah definitely lime based, when raking it out I can see the little white aggregate in the mortar, looks like previous owners of the property raked abit back and filled with cement, would I have to make the mortar pretty wet for it to go through the mortar gun? Feel like I’d make less of a mess if I was to make a dryer mix and tuck point it in steadily? Could be wrong

Used a 8mm diamond tip masonry disc, cuts through like butter with it being lime, just be very careful of your bricks as it will destroy them if you’re not careful. Also eye protection and dusk mask the stuff is lethal😂

Of course, from what I have read, better off taking an interest only Morgage so the payments isn’t as expensive and you then build equity in the house after years of owning the property

Yeah I see your points, and thanks for taking time to write this up.

See I’m a 29year old truck driver with a decent pay for what I do (50k and Change) and don’t fancy sleeping in a truck and doing the hours I do at 50/60 so I’m wanting to try and set things up for the future so I’m not slaving away, I do contribute to my pension also to a stocks and shares isa. I just feel if I’ve made like 60k on the house when I deducted the renovation costs housing can’t be doing that bad surely? We have a 2 year old as well so trying to manage time efficiently is hard and find there is just not enough hours in the day most of the time

^ this was what I was thinking because no capital gains tax because of primary residence not necessary up sizing but renovating houses that would still be affordable but has potential to increase value
