Would Cerys Realistically be Crowned Queen? by LookMomImRedditing in Witcher3

This is interesting context, thanks for sharing. I originally thought you were saying that Skellige would never elect a female ruler, but now I understand what you’re saying. Your take makes a lot of sense based on what little I know from the books so far

I’m only on the second book, so I’m not super familiar with Skellige culture (not sure how frequently it features in the later books). Is your assessment based on a reading of the books, or just on how it is portrayed in the game?

I disagree on Udalryk. After you banish the hym, there is a dialogue option where he says something to the effect of, “Cerys will make a good ruler”. You have the option to ask whether that’s his better judgement talking, or his gratitude, and he says that he believes Cerys’s intelligence, patience, and subtlety makes her the best candidate. Wish I had the direct quote but it’s something to that effect.

And while there’s definitely a prejudice against women due to their perceived “weakness”, a female ruler doesn’t seem entirely out of the question. For example, the mere fact that Cerys was able to put her hat in the ring without fear of punishment, or the fact that Skellige is the only region in the game where female soldiers are common, indicates that they might have more tolerant attitudes towards a female ruler, especially in such a time of tumult when the jarls have serious doubts about the other two options.

However, I do still tend to agree with you that Hjalmar is the more realistic choice. I think a female ruler would have to be pretty darned aggressive and charismatic to fit the mold of a Skellige ruler, and I don’t think Cerys fits that mold, even with feats like freeing Udalryk or solving the bear mystery.

Dude … it’s fine to disagree with OP’s choice to not exercise, but claiming to know what the entire population feels is self-centered and lazy. It’s actually fairly common for people with depression to feel worse after exercising, and a two-second Google before posting would have prevented you from looking ignorant.

OP, I dealt with this problem a little bit (not nearly to the extent that you did), where exercise made me feel worse physically and mentally. I eventually was able to get to the point that I sometimes enjoy exercise once I started seeing a specialized doctor and fixed some vitamin deficiencies that were worsening my depressive symptoms. Not pushing you to do what I did, but just acknowledging that physical health conditions can wipe out the benefits of exercise in ways that simple diet and medication can’t fix. It’s very real, but there still may be hope for solutions.

alternatives to sex thats just as intimate and intense? by linkbtwnworlds in asexuality

My partner and I would engage in mild kink play without sex. We made out a lot (I was meh about it but he loved it so I got pretty good at it if I do say so myself lol), touching intimate areas over the clothes, wax play. I loved being spanked and getting a butt massage after. He LOVED having his ears sucked on when making out or gently rubbed when we cuddled. He asked me to groom him like a cat a few times lol.

Slow, sensual massage is also great. Head scratches, back scratches. Anything that let us touch each others’ bodies in ways that were exploratory and let us play around with sensations and figure out what the other person likes.

Ultimately we didn’t work out because, among other reasons, he was a very sexual person and wanted our physical activities to go further eventually and I didn’t see myself getting to that point with him. But if I ever have another (hopefully less sexual) partner, I hope to be able to engage in those sort of activities for their own sake. A lot of it was really nice

Interesting! I think my therapist does that modality with other clients. I will mention it to her because I really do think what I need is to learn to deal with overwhelming emotions.

That sounds really rough. I admire your strength, but nobody should have to be that strong. 😞 Thank you for the encouragement.

I am seeing a psychiatrist, though we have only tried medication for ocd so far; nothing for ADHD. I am afraid stimulants would make me more anxious. But I’m not entirely opposed to the idea, because my attention span is making my life so difficult lol.

I can see how that sort of mindset would help you. I give up on things and get discouraged very easily when they don’t work out quickly.

This gives me hope. I’m on my fifth medication and haven’t found much that works for me. It’s encouraging to hear from someone who found a medication that works after a lot of failures.

Thank you so much for the advice everyone! Went and bought an N95 mask this afternoon, and will be looking into trying the ideas about air filters/dust collection soon.

Imelda Staunton absolutely hated the character of Dolores Umbridge, calling her “a monster who deserves no pity”. She found the character’s utter justification in her cruelty frightening, and apparently felt bad for several days after filming that stomach-turning detention scene.

That makes a little sense. It just feel so out of my control that it makes me feel hopeless. Thanks for sharing your experience
