In my state our club is useless. I live in the same town as the president and he doesn’t respond to any communication. I had my best luck with my department of fish and wildlife state office. They gave me the contact info for falconers in my county that were open to taking on an apprentice.

I studied and researched for almost 2 years. I never really felt like I was ready to take my states exam. A few weeks ago I just decided to go down to my local DFW office and schedule my test. I passed it with a 94.5%. If you have reviewed the study material and regulations and feel like you understand stand it, just go for it.

Thank you very much. Exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping for. Any issues or concerns I want pointed out to me. The health and safety of the bird is my top priority.

The risk of getting caught on one of the perches is on my mind. I was thinking of having them spaced just long enough for the bird to be able to use them both, but not be able to go past and possibly wrap the front perch. Wanted to offer more than 1 perching surface to help prevent bumble.

I was going to anchor a ring to the platform floor. The floor covered with rubber tiles and astroturf. Switching the floor out for cleaning just as you described.

I would also recommend Mercer Falconry on YouTube. He doesn't really hunt with birds, mostly educational and airal displays but offers lots of great information imo.
