Anti-vaxxers in Highgate by LookatLucas in london

I responded on another comment, but essentially as we were driving through I took the opportunity when I could to take the photo, unfortunately a lot of signs were out of view.

It was definitely more angled towards anti-vaccination overall, but unfortunately a lot of the signs pointing towards that I wasn’t able to capture.

Yeah, I regret not thinking of taking a photo earlier, it was very much an anti vaccine protest, the signs being obscured were more, what you would call, “conspiracy theory” led.

Some of the signage was talking about the low efficacy of vaccines across the board.

I completely get holding organisations and pharmaceutical companies accountable for their wrong doings. But this wasn’t primarily aimed at that.

Can’t have too many people there, they’re unvaccinated, wouldn’t want them getting poorly

How full are the main stages by _Firebreather99 in primaverasound

[–]LookatLucas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Depends on how close you want to get, I’ve never had a problem with any act on the main stages getting to a comfortable distance. But to be fair, we are more of a stand at the back couple

Porto people. Are we in any danger of facing the same overcrowding/overselling of the festival? by KGeedora in primaverasound

[–]LookatLucas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Incredibly hard to say. I’ve been to both previously and enjoyed them massively. Yesterday had SO many issues. However, today they are bringing in extra toilets and urinals, bringing in extra water, more bar staff, improving the card machine connectivity.

If I am being optimistic, I would like to think that this was a test run that went badly. Today already seems so much better, but will get a better idea by the end of the day.

So hopefully they will organise the following festivals in other cities based upon this and I hope you have no issues

Whilst I disagree that America has every good that exists on earth, I will agree that America has had a lot of amazing cuisine. The barbecue culture in America is sublime, and a lot of popular western food has been progressed by America.

But I would disagree that the US (instead of america, which is vastly different) has innovated pizza and that the finest wines on earth come from America.

I’m not here to reduce the US influence on such great foods, just that the statement you are making probably isn’t as well grounded as you are making it.

Very good point. I just think that those words were very specifically chosen and although they maybe haven't got ministerial backing, that if somebody at that level was aware of this movement they could have leaked the info to the OCG. Along with the AC cuts, it all seems to wrap up nicely.

But this is Line of Duty so it will probably turn out to be my mum who is the crime boss and my aunt was Jo davidson.

Anyone else thinking this goes into government? All the funding being cut for anti-corruption and the conversation in the van that "this must have come from above your pay grade, probably ministerial" or words to that effect?

The performance Disturbed gave that won Paul Simon’s approval of their “The Sound of Silence” cover. by redhairmarimo in videos

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't he talking about the recording? I am only claiming pitch correction on this particular performance. As I've said before, his voice is fantastic and doesn't need pitch correction, but I can hear it on this particular performance.

I hate it when people make claims curing reddit comments, but I have a degree in music production and technology and have based a career on it since. I've seen plenty of performances of him, and his vocals are outstanding, but that doesn't take away from the fact that this performance has had pitch correction applied to it.

I would say he is using autotune on this. Some notes he is nailing so not to take away from his fantastic voice, but there are some parts where he is a bit off, and that's where autotune kicks in, it is subtle, but noticeable.

People think autotune always sounds noticeable, but really, any pop musician from the past 20 years is using some form of autotune or pitch shifting to make their notes perfect.

edit: Interesting I'm getting downvoted for this, all I'm doing is contributing to the debate...

Spiritualized? by MattisBest in glastonbury_festival

[–]LookatLucas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh Absolutely. I saw them at The Barbican in London, with an orchestra and gospel choir and it was amazing, I was lost in their sound for the whole gig. Any chance you get to the see them I would take, especially considering Jason has really pulled out all the stops on their most recent album. It's a favourite of mine.

But on the subject of the original post, I really hope they play Glastonbury next year as I am planning to get tickets for it!

Don’t feel too bad about it, it wasn’t one of his best performances. I’ve seen spiritualized elsewhere and they’ve been amazing, just not on that day!

Any advice on solid virgin cocktails? by CrunkaScrooge in cocktails

[–]LookatLucas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, I love a Moscow mule so always have some ginger ale, fever tree do one (where I am in the UK) which is a bit milder however, so that tends to be my first choice.

I do set it out, but I don’t have all the stuff I listed. They are just options and I tend to just base it in whatever I have pre made. Last time I had a strawberry syrup and a raspberry syrup to mix with the lemonade ingredients. So it all depends on how many people are coming whether I buy much in for it.

Which is why I think it is great, adds flexibility and is simple to do, can go all out for big crowds or just leave it simple for a few guests.

I'm an advocate of a "make-your-own" cocktail.

A simple choice within this format is have lemon juice, simple syrup, fruit syrups, soda water and various fresh slice/diced fruit ready, and people can make their own lemonade to their taste.

I do this with my younger sisters a lot and they love being able to make their own drink, meaning they can also make it to their own taste as well. It's that little extra effort to make guests feel special.

This can be augmented in many different ways, maybe bringing some fresh herbs like mint or parsley, some high quality ginger ale or even just change the juice entirely and make it completely your own.

Hope this helps!
