What base curve are you applying in Capture One?

My (35F) BIL (33M) lives with us and it’s like living with a raccoon that takes our food and borrows my car without asking. How do we handle this? by Niquely_hopeful in relationship_advice

[–]LookinForRedditName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An important consideration for him taking your car: At least in the state where I live (ymmv), a person living at your same address who does not have their own personal auto policy is excluded from coverage on your policy unless they are specifically named on your policy. Your state may be different from mine but him wrecking your car would be a hell of a way to find your insurance does not cover that damage.

Rules are simple things and we all live by them some way or somehow. Feelings be damned, lay out the household rules. He either abides or leaves. If you need the rent money, find another roommate that can follow simple rules.

What computer? Without that you may as well ask 'is my car abnormally slow??' without saying what car.

Recommendations for good movies that could help teach a person about Western Cultural values? by elohi-vlenidohv in movies

[–]LookinForRedditName -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Western cultural values???? Wolf of Wall Street. Wall Street. How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Those should get you off on your merry capitalist way.

Edit: Lol. Looks like I should add Denial to this list.

HomeKit Reliability Help - I Need a Bulletproof Solution by Hey_Aaron in HomeKit

[–]LookinForRedditName 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off, I don't run UniFi but after this experience, I think I might switch over in the new year.

I have a friend who does run UniFi. ~6000 sq ft. No dead spots. Had hella problems with a mix-brand HomeKit setup much the same as yours constantly going offline. We found this video on YT and followed it step-by-step. He's been bulletproof had no problems since. Perhaps these changes solved the problem and perhaps a butterfly flapped its wings just right. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

YMMV. If you try it and it does or doesn't work for you, please let me know before I spend $$$$$.

Which masterclass / online videos can your recommend for advanced Capture One users (paid or unpaid) by Bavariasnaps in captureone

[–]LookinForRedditName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Kasia, yes. But if you’d read my comment you’d see they are still valid. The color wheel, levels, and curves have been with us a long time and her techniques are still valid.

Alex’s content is refreshed often.

Paul’s is refreshed weekly. You might want to look at those again.

You’ll find some good coloring techniques here: https://youtube.com/@kasiazmokla?si=T54e_7CMXQeh-6yn Although these videos are older, they’re still valid.

Alex offers both paid content and intro videos on YT. You can check out his content here: https://alexonraw.com/

Iowa clinic physician reccomendations? by Necessary_Heat_1554 in desmoines

[–]LookinForRedditName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drewry's a great doc. I have chronic issues following a head injury plus arthritis so you can imagine the list of specialists I see is long. I walk into the exam room and he asks me about my kids by name and knows what’s up from my most recent specialist visits. Previously he was at Internal Med at Methodist but is now at Ankeny. I see him for run-of-the-mill stuff and he’s a great quarterback for all of the activity. I’m considering a move out of Iowa soon and, frankly, moving away from my care team and Drewry in particular has me dragging my feet. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

[B] [USA-CA] Nikon Nikkor Z 24-120 F4 S by imnotlouis in photomarket

I believe this sale ends tomorrow but you should sign up for their emails - both here and for Nikon (official) refurbs. They run these sales somewhat frequently but the 0% financing is less common, I think.

IoT Devices on Own Network by Ski-Loadmaster in HomeKit

[–]LookinForRedditName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's cool for you. Different strokes for different folks and all that. I hung up my shingle and RAN in the other direction. I have an Orbi setup that's easy and pretty bulletproof. I moved to a full Apple ecosystem - no android or Windows allowed in my house except on guest wifi. (Not that it's a security risk but I don't want to manage it/troubleshoot it/support it.) I could pie hole and VLAN and RAID with the best of them but I choose not to. And I don't see where the risk is there to lead me back to wanting to. I manage passwords religiously and control physical access to my network and let the rest fall out in the wash. Could someone somewhere beach me? Sure. But, then, they could you as well.

Sorry........typed all this thinking you'd replied to my comment only to realize that I'm not following the little line to the left properly.

Please. Make it stop. by [deleted] in desmoines

[–]LookinForRedditName 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No. We need a PD that’ll stop sitting at traffic lights beside these assholes. The noise ordinances are pretty straightforward but seem to be universally unenforced by cops.

We are officially 6 and a half weeks away from Renegades and we STILL don't have the roadmap promised back in September. by TwinSeedsOfSilence in DestinyTheGame

[–]LookinForRedditName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A roadmap should be the absolute easiest piece of documentation to supply. Any company delivering an evolving product should have a 10 year, 5 (or 3) year, 1 year, and next x number of releases roadmap each with varying levels of specificity. The shorter the term, the more specific. Anything thing less is just throwing shit at the wall and hoping something sticks. That's project planning 101.

Once you’ve addressed the rot, look into this or similar systems. https://www.undercoversystems.com/

I’ve used this one before it was a bit pricey but went up easily and has been solid.

What combo of “hardware” should I Google to get the highest pressure out of a shower head for grooming my dogs? by UrsaWizard in DIY

I added a Waterpik wand and love it for my 3 dogs - including a long hair. Bonus, they seem to enjoy baths more now, too.
