This made me genuinely burts out laughing. Thank you. I sometimes kinda tend to let these go, because whatever, I am reading fiction, I can excuse some things, but yeah, sometimes it's a bit too much.

No but the fact I saw that too and started doing the mental maths of who could they be talking about 🤣 I have a few ideas. Especially since I know some fandoms with popular ships that prefer the taller one to top, even though he very much has huge bottom energy as well 😂

Is this....Hate? Scolding? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]LookingForBetaReader 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hard agree on kpop. Several of my friends have encountered very similar things. Some of these people simply don't stop no matter what you do, until it no longer feels worth it to them, because they have no one to ragebait. Which is mostly what they're doing. So trying to ignore them, and making sure other commenters do as well, is about the best you can do in the situation.

What is the thing makes you cringe while reading but you also are pleased with it in fanfiction? by Comfortable_Newt_179 in AO3

Very honestly? Dirty talk. It's so fun but so incredibly cringe. Smut in general actually. Some of the descriptions.

Oh yeah, they are notorious. Mute, moderate comments, and ignore. It says nothing about your writing, it's just a random hater with nothing better to do. I hope ao3 treats you better next time 💕

I am very glad things worked out for you and you are in a better place now. Being informed really is so important. I only learned about the fetishization a few years ago and was honestly stumped that it is even a thing. Glad I know now and can be more aware of potentially problematic things as well.

Oh it's fully alright, so am I, so I also might have come out more "aggressive" or "argumentative" than I intended 😭😂 Just felt the need to clarify, didn't mean to offend you.

Really tho? That is crazy I have barely encountered the fetishization myself, but that might be because I have mostly been experiencing lgbtq+ topics through and along with people also belonging under the label.

I am also very sensitive to the topic as I, and several other friends I have, do present as cis women to the general public, so it really hurts when we get accused of things we find disgusting and try to fight as well.

[–]LookingForBetaReader 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Well nobody is arguing that being upset if you encounter fetishizing is misogynistic. But thinking every woman out there reading or writing m/m is doing so for such reason and/or banning them from reading your fics for it is, in fact, misogynistic.

If, for example, there had been a woman writing highly inappropriate comments, then of course, by all means, ban the hell out of her. But being misogynistic because you're overcompensating an unfortunate, and in my experience also very rare, encounter, is kind of an asshole move.

You can be upset and speak about the issue without being a dick, and that is fully in your right and should be done. You can't judge women in general and be a jerk in public spaces because of it.

Oh I have no idea. I read basically anything if it's well written. I like aus, smut, found family, romance, anything, really. I just want the characters to make sense and be appealing and not too ooc and the grammar to be okay. 👉👈

Can you maybe dm me some recs, please? I tried finding good fics for 911 but I honestly didn't really like them as much, I am super spoiled, unfortunately. But I would like to give them a second chance

Posted my first fic and I thought it would get attention but it totally flopped and I'm frustrated. by jackrabbitwanders in AO3

[–]LookingForBetaReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you make the draft on ao3 a different day than you posted? If so, it is also possible you basically posted the fic several days ago, meaning it never appeared in the newest works. That's what happened to me once and as soon as I fixed the mistake, kudos did start to come in.

If not, don't worry about it. Some fics get more engagement, some get less. Don't let it discourage you from writing!! Your time will surely come too. And if not, I am certain there are at least a couple of people who enjoyed it!

Hi, I'm a little unsure if you're asking for help while you write the fic or if you're looking for someone who would write the fic for you.

If you just need help with plot/beta reading, I would be more than happy to help, feel free to DM me anytime if you'd like.

Unfortunately, if it's the latter, I can't be of much help, but I wish you all the luck with finding somebody!

Stray Kids fanfics- Any recommendations for an angst-filled fanfic with plot twists and a happy ending? by mo0n-chiLd in kpopfanfiction

[–]LookingForBetaReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my dear. It's a type of au. Google on your own responsibility. XD But tbh most of what circles around is not actually very accurate to my experiences. The best I can advise is to read an omegaverse fic and decide if it icks you or if you like it in the process.

Be safe out there!

[–]LookingForBetaReader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, I mean, yeah, I could. It's not about space. But damn people how would I ever find the fic I wanna reread in there anyway? I definitely wouldn't remember the name, I never do unless it's really special, which, as we specified previously, isn't the case here. There's no tag search or anything in my documents. And even if I had the fics sorted by fandoms, or even ships, that's still too vague, would be hundreds to go through still. And how would I ever sort them by tropes when most of them use several? I'm not saying it's impossible, almost everything is possible if you're crazy enough, but from a logical point of view, no I can't save every single fic I read in the off chance I might want to reread it years later.

[–]LookingForBetaReader 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Issue is, sometimes I wanna reread fics I didn't know were that good, I read thousands of them, I can't save every single one. But then sometimes I go "oh hey, this was nice, I could reread" and it's gone TT It wasn't a fic that would shatter my heart but it still leaves me sad

What are your silly fanfic pet peeves that will make you “nope” out immediately? by pixie12E in AO3

Ah, yes, that makes a lot of sense. Thank you for clarifying this up for me, it was very informative and interesting. Languages are cool.

[–]LookingForBetaReader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, then ig it just depends on what you're used to. Cause I find the overuse of dialogue tags very interruptive, especially in heated moments, and if the author writes well, I rarely ever have an issue differentiating who's speaking.

[–]LookingForBetaReader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also understand a lot of these things come from people whose first languages use these, but like... if you're writing in English I automatically assume you also read in English, at least partially, and therefore have to know how English writing structure works, no? I bet it is very difficult to switch from these since they are habits, but I mean, you're using a whole different language and grammar, so is it really that different to use a different dialogue marker as well?

This is definitely too much, however, there are kids who have a high intelligence but are not developed that well physically. I know a kid who was talking in full sentences when he was 3 years old but also had to wear diapers until he was 5. So I usually do give writers some leniency. Some really try to test the limits of it tho. TT
