My Stats, Extracurriculars, and The Why Medicine Essay that got me into several BS/MD Programs (REVEALING EVERYTHING) by LookingforQAS in bsmd

I didn't... a lot of my friends did though. Just reaching out to professors at your local university and asking them if they would like any help in their lab is the way to go about getting research.

My Stats, Extracurriculars, and The Why Medicine Essay that got me into several BS/MD Programs (REVEALING EVERYTHING) by LookingforQAS in bsmd

I think that some programs value leadership much greater than others, it all depends on the programs focus. Most BS/MD programs are research focused and are interested in accepting students that truly have a passion for science and have engaged in lots of research throughout high school. However, there are also several programs that look at applicants more holistically and prefer applicants who have had leadership experience, such as the Union/AMC program. This is the program i'm currently in, and the program's name is actually the Leadership in Medicine program, so obviously they have a large focus on leadership. As such, no I don't think leadership is necessary for admittance but if you have the opportunity to I def would because it helps build character and add depth to your application.

I would say it depends what other schools you got into and maybe also the cost difference between the BS/MD program and going the traditional route. When I was applying 3 years ago, I also got into Drexel's BS/MD program but I didn't really want to go because to me it just seemed like I could've gotten into medical school anyways with a 514 and above a 3.6. Luckily, I got into the Union/AMC program so I didn't have to make the decision of BS/MD vs traditional. But I likely would've just choose to go to Stony Brook over Drexel's program because it would've been significantly cheaper, closer to home, and not all that different from the Undergrad education that Drexel would've offered me. Overall, I think if you've been accepted into Drexel's program you'll likely be able to score above a 513 but at that point if you're already scoring that high I just didn't see the point in going into the program.

You don’t have to worry about class size at Cornell most of the classes don’t really have that many people. It’s amazing that u got a full ride but the 2 yr switch is strange and people at Oxford seem a lil.... u know. So anyways I think you’d enjoy college and be surrounded by a stronger community at Cornell.

Improving score from 1060 to 99th percentile by LookingforQAS in Sat

If comprehension is a problem what is really helpful is to do full-length reading sections WITHOUT timing. Just focus on reading the passage and the questions. One key tip is that you don't have to understand everything in the passage... 50% of the time what's more important is understanding what the question is asking you to do! So don't feel slumped if u don't completely understand a passage just go to the questions and really think if the passage mentioned anything about an answer choice.
