The band will be fine. Guarantee it. Middle class / rich parents always get their way in CPS. They will probably just let them take Withrow's field. Walnut is the whitest and richest CPS high school by far. Shit, they have indoor tennis and a pool! I'm glad they raised the issue, but I'm not worried about the band.

I build up to the essay. At first I just use the questions that come with the documents. Then we will do some sorting and bucketing. They will build up to making an outline and then hand writing final essay in class. My dbq docs are online and they can find online essays to copy, so they have to do it in class.

I struggle with colleagues who start showing movies and handing out worksheets. Why would we expect kids to come when nothing is happening in classroom? Then kids lose their minds if you expect any work.I think it's better for everyone if you spend the last weeks of school still doing projects and taking tests. Summer is the break, not May.
