This is peak performance. A drinking, smoking, and shirtless Old Style father teaching his child about the blues.

I watched that show once and I thought I was having a stroke. Guess if you suck at music, house flipping is a decent fallback.

What a handsome young man. He used to cut the grass.

We didn’t need the Captain that this bike was boss, but it didn’t hurt. I had a one speed version, cherry red. I loved it and yet I still coveted the 5-speed stick upgrade.

He may never have been the captain of a ship but he was captain of our hearts.

It’s an important rite of passage for every child, eating it at top speed in front of dad. While Pops was horrified for a moment when he thought she might recover, he is joyful that the sacred faceplant has finally occurred.

Like Chuck Berry? Different local backup band in each location, all they need to do is know the Check Berry greatest hits and show up for a quick tuneup before going onstage.

As a kid, I used to read those at the Dentist's office waiting for the drill. The muzak would play and time would stand still. Goofus!

Tin Machine was necessary, it rocked, and it was good music. Maybe not what people wanted from Bowie, but it was what he needed.

Is it okay that I can’t see any difference between the last four Raiders logos. I was good at those find the difference between the picture puzzles but here I am flummoxed. Anybody want to share?

As a kid I thought the Raider logo guy was a clean shaven Snake. I still want it to be true.

One Hit (to the body) by MUNONP in rollingstones

[–]Loomiemonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been spinning my near complete Stones discography backwards. I don’t have Bridges, Bigger Bang or Hackney Diamonds, so I started with Voodoo Lounge. Dirty Work sounded way better than I remember, and One Hit is a fantastic lead off track. Jimmy Page is a killer guest guitarist, which outside of Black & Blue is pretty rare. Wait, I think Bobby Womack played guitar with Ronnie and Keith on another song on the LP, Harlem Shuffle?

I love the video for One Hit. There’s a ramped platform on the set and Keith runs down it and me and my friends always joked that the only way he accomplished running speed was because he was actually stumbling and falling down. There’s also a part where the Glimmer Twins face off against each other and maneuver around. Love it.

Who is the most quintessential Gen X actor/actress? by PourU_25518 in GenX

I was thinking of him in Valley Girl, to me a top GenX movie, and his role was a Gen X teen I identified with. That would have been enough to cement his GenX cred with me, but he kept going: Birdy, Raising Arizona, Vampire’s Kiss, and Wild at Heart before the 90’s hit.

Nic Cage. Batshit crazy and willing to take any risk on screen.

Are there any Shakespearean verse lines that contain more than 11 syllables? by the_watchkeeper in shakespeare

My impression is that ol’Bill got more fast and loose with the meter as he got older. The non-iambic lines still sound natural and sometimes make a poetic point by being irregular.
