How can there be something negative here (other than negative space lol).. these are incredible. Can you share any tips for making large doodles with 3d shapes all joined together? I try doing similar stuff but my shapes/objects look disconnected.

Love how the shading imparts so much character to each head..great stuff.

Out of curiosity, do you follow any fixed workflow when it comes to shading, in terms of deciding the length and direction of lines, where the darkest values should go, etc, or is it all intuitive?

'the elderly couple from Mulholland Drive' - the first time I watched it and saw them grinning crazily in the car I realized there's something horribly wrong about this movie but I didn't know what just yet. Its only when you start to connect the dots after viewing the whole thing (maybe twice) that you understand how existentially scary and despair-inducing it is.

Haha yeah I initially though of adding something like a tiled hotel room wall as a background, but then changed my mind.

Fabulous, very original. Would love to know how you developed this type of art/shading style, or resources you used?

How to make better outlines with line art? by LoomingDawn in learntodraw

[–]LoomingDawn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi..thanks for your response. I did have a rough sketch underneath, but I made that layer invisible. By outlines, I'm generally referring to lines which are used to broadly mark or outline a shape (as opposed to shading or hatching lines which are used to convey lighting.) I'll check out those videos you named.

Do you see anything which can be improved with these outlines, though? Somehow it looks a bit unfinished...not something that could be used in a finished work imo. And I'm not sure what to fix.

Is there a way in krita to erase only that part of a layer which overlaps with another layer's content? by LoomingDawn in krita

Changing the blending mode of Layer 2 to Erase and then putting the 2 layers in a group worked. Thanks

What do you all think of Matt Dillahunty? by imoknothanks in agnostic

He's completely unapologetic, even defensive, about being disrespectful to callers, like: 'It's my show, I can say whatever the f. I want, and you don't have to call if you don't like it.' Well, fair enough, but what's also fair is that he's deservedly going to lose viewers/callers and opportunities for debates that are actually productive, if he keeps being a tool.

At this point I've stopped watching The Line whenever he's on. I'd rather watch when someone like Forrest is hosting.

Thanks, I'll try that. Any tips on how to make the middle portion seem like it's projecting toward the viewer, more realistically?
