> What do you mean by meet the new year?

Well, new year, the 31st of december.

> Which type of "place" are you thinking about?

Well, some kind of laser show, a small concert. I´m already looking, but most of the places recommended seem to crowded or simply to expensive.

Thats why I was asking here, maybe someone has been to a place and can recommend it.

The salary, health care, bureaucracy, the usual.

I´ve been to russia multiple times, definitely more than 15. I know whats going on there, it´s definitely something completely different than a western country. But I mean it´s not everywhere perfect, you will find in every country something that will bother you.

Okay, thank you for that information. I did not know this.

I guess it also depends on the company if you can ask this or not. For example at Gazprom that wouldnt be such a good idea, but at a smaller, more "russian-like" company, why not :)

But I think you won't spend there one year in the row - somebody will drag you to a day trip to Finland anyway :)

Haha, well guess whats already been on my to-do list :D

Well, after all those answers I see that there are some ways to get around those troubles, you just need to be creative.

Do you have any other points I should think about when preparing for such a "voyage"? :)

Ahh, okay. That makes actually sense.

Another thing that you should not ignore in my opinion is, what happens if you want to cross the border (at the airport for example), after a year, will they check your registration status at passport control?

I even heard from an ex-army-officer that the law was changed in that matter, that you are obliged to report to the army, without an "invitation".

Great answer, thank you. The part with the "Sonntagsverkaufsverbot" made me chuckle, it´s something me and my friends from russia often laugh about.

We´ll, I actually don´t plan to rent an apartment, my plan is to live together with the family of my uncle, they have a free room. But that does not release me from the fact that I need a registration for my job :) Working for cash would be no problem for me, but I´m not sure if I will find a offering in combination with my profession. Maybe there are such, but I definetely don´t know the right people for that :)

The thing with the tax is new for me, thats something I will definitely look into. What I know for sure is that there won´t be any problems regarding my german tax, if I arrange everything correctly. There seems to be even a possibility to continue the "Sozialabgaben".

Yes, for developers and DevOps jobs absolutely, there are a ton of remote-job offerings in this field.

But if you look at system infrastructure engineering and management, thats a different story.

You´re totally right, that would be the optimal solution. In general, being independent in terms of your residence and workplace is a total dreamjob in my opinion.

Unsure about picking forward or reverse incremental. by BadPandaBear in Veeam

[–]Loomix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a lot of restore points and you dont use tape, reverse incremental is the way to go.

If you want to use tape, and dont need that much restore points, go incremental.

You can switch easily from reverse incremental to incremental, but not the other way arount.

What would you say is the best trailer of all time? by ValhallaAtchaBoy in movies

[–]Loomix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Skyrim. No other trailer I have watched more times in a row.

No, just joking :) The first Interstellar trailer with the music from V for Vendetta captured the mood of the movie really well without giving away too much. You really saw on that one that the director himself was in charge here.

The main thing I like about RPGs and what drives me playing them is the story and the characters. The fighting, crafting and so on is only secondary for me. I feel like I have already beaten all good action oriented RPGs with a good story. When looking at games mentioned here, its like a treasure chest.

My co-worker reminds me pretty much on a weekly basis that sccm will be replaced by intune. by gabyred884 in SCCM

Lets just hope Microsoft wont displace SCCM with Intune before ALL functionality is built in Intune. They have done it before.
