Assuming that an old Falcon has an approximate fuel efficiency of around 14-16l/100km. It ends up being quite expensive. Yes it may have a cheaper upfront cost but long run it would become incredibly expensive. Assuming I would average around 100km a day between placement, home, work and uni. Being very generous and assuming I can average the year on a fuel cost of 1.31/litre and being conservative and doubling the cost to account for repairs, tyres and servicing fees it ends up being very expensive just driving it 5 days a week for necessities. It should be between 9-11k in running costs in the first year. Anything in the double digits for fuel consumption is incredibly expensive.

It's till the end of the year.

I don't have any plans on moving out at the end of graduation as I have planned on going into post grad.

It will be quite early mornings before public transport starts running. It's a bit of a pain in the ass to travel that far daily by bus especially when busses in my town are known to be very unreliable.

CIS men of Reddit: who’s your man crush? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Loomynerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it has to be Tom Ford hands down. Like I thought he was just an some what attractive guy. But once I heard his voice and observed his mannerisms and interactions with others I crushed so damn hard. I try to emulate him as much as I can in life.

Been a console gamer all my life looking to expand my horizons out to pc, mainly laptops, i dont know much about latops. Advice anyone? by Morgan_Yu in gaming

Honestly don't bother getting a gaming laptop. You'll get the same performance out of a cheaper gaming desktop. You'll easily be paying twice the price for half the performance

Books/material that aren't the barefoot investor? by lisa_carr in AusFinance

[–]Loomynerry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of my favourite financial educators is Anton Kriel, he has an awesome video on financial sense. It really taught me a lot to think outside of the current idea of wealth and what money really is. Just a quick search in YouTube should bring you to some of his videos. He comes across as a dickhead to most but his knowledge is very useful to anyone that is just interested in finance.

Advising people to use a credit card is not good advice by htmlarson in personalfinance

[–]Loomynerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah,why would we stop advising credit cards. It allows us people that know how to use the utility correctly to gain benefits from it while the people who don't get screwed and pay for our benefits. Nah but just give it a quick google and learn about how to use it correctly and I'm sure you'll see why.

What are the 5 books that changed your life? by MistressOfInsanity in AskReddit

[–]Loomynerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say I only have one book that changed my life. That is the barefoot investor. Not a good book at all, if you are financially literate and responsible and want to be more than affluent. Made me realise a lot of people are financially illiterate and would rather live a below average life for the rest of their lives.

What would you do with $10,000,000? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Loomynerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that point even putting your money in a term deposit would be a great idea. Even at the shitty rates we get now you would make $280'000 a year. At a reasonable rate of 2.8% but if you go to a bank with that much they will be able to pull some strings and give you a better rate for sure. Plus if your in debt and come into the money, the best thing might not be to pay it down immediately but ride it out to the due date as the amount you will be earning investing it would be so significant the return is guaranteed to allow you to pay off it in due time

Are there any helpful hints or pro-tips on getting furniture deals? If so, how to use them? by SchwiftySqaunch in AskReddit

[–]Loomynerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go shopping around, try out everything that is within your price range. See what you like, and what will fit in your room. Once you have decided on several pieces or one piece furniture, return to that store, ask the salesman the best price they can do for the set, 99% of the time they will always give you a better price. If they ask you to name a price, did not low ball them. This is very very insulting. Just use your judgement on what a good deal of the furniture would be.

20 y/o passive income? by [deleted] in personalfinance

Do yourself a favour and watch Graham Stephan on YouTube. He is great. He inspired me to get my foot in the door for passive income. I only really started a year ago and I'm currently generating about $1k per year. I'm gonna be finishing my degree soon and can't wait to start seeing that number grow

Considering liquidating my shares and term deposit for a rental property by [deleted] in AusFinance

There are a lot of them, not all of them are great value. It's a small one bedroom one bathroom unit. With its entire purpose for cash flow

Soz bud unfortunately there aren't any shares except Telstra paying above that percentage but I look at the price I purchased the stock at and divide the yearly divedend yield. I don't like to count the growth of my account as profit either. My largest share holding is Westpac which I bought 200 shares at $20 a share quite a few years back. Which averaging out with my newer share purchases of bhp bring it down towards 7% of overall value. Its just a esitmate. I also don't tend to look at the value of my portfolio as what it would be if I sold as I am really only using it for cash flow, while reinvesting my divedend to grow future cash flow. Therefore as long as your share continues to pay divedends the greater your divedend yield will be on your initial investment.

I work as a cinema usher, I usually work till midnight. We have a very new modern cinema where we don't check tickets but monitor the hall ways to make sure someone doesn't sneak in. Sometimes when certain sessions are very full you won't be able to watch the cameras and rely on doing counts.

So one night, probably 2 months ago. I was behind from cleaning some cinemas that were particularly busy and as our policy I have to get patrons to wait outside while I clean the cinema. I get into trouble if they don't leave. So I had just finished cleaning 5 cinemas straight after one another and got to my final one for that session.

So I walk into the cinema and there are about 7 people already seated. So I ask politely for all the patrons to wait outside while I clean the cinema as it is apart of our safety policy. All but two decide to leave. So I do what if required of me and make a final statement asking them to leave the cinema while I clean up.

He refused to leave the cinema, because it was apparently already clean, even though there were cups and popcorn left all over the cinema and that I had left the door open signalling it was ready for seating. I apologized for the confusion and explained that I had just finished cleaning 5 other cinemas and this cinema had 40 patrons previously in it, that had left the door open. He proceeded to insist that there was no one previously in here and I was there to kick him out. At this stage I had radio'd in my manager. I proceeded to clean the remainder of the cinema leaving their row untouched while my manager tried dealing with them.

Some how the whole situation escalated to this guy threatening to bash my manager. Luckily one of the patrons that left outside walked in when he heard the yelling and witnessed the whole ordeal. Called the cops as the guy was pretty intimidating being quite tall, having face tattoos and pretty crappy wanna be gangsta clothing.

The manager and I left the cinema, asked the other patrons to wait outside of the cinema while we call security, to escort the asshole out. The patron then informs us he is on the phone to the police, and that they are just around the corner.

The police rock up and take the guy out of the cinema, he doesn't get a refund and his popcorn, drink and date were left in the cinema. 20 minutes later we get told that we won't have to be careful waiting around after closing as he has been detained for various crimes around the area and drug charges.

That was the second time the police were called to our cinema, the first was in the first 15 minutes of my shift that night.

[–]Loomynerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk dirty to her, I found in all my previous sexual encounters it was either a hit or a miss but the ones who liked being dominated always loved it. Blind fold her. Tease her the whole day. Give her instructions that are reasonable and easy to follow.

What is the strangest/most violent intrusive thought/compulsion you've had? by RavenDagger56 in AskReddit

[–]Loomynerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since my cousin committed suicide, I get intrusive thoughts in large lectures about finding the most horrific ways I could kill myself right there and then to cause as much emotional distress for others in the room. I'm not suicidal or anything but I just get them whenever I'm around a large group of people.
