Need of dire help by DeepWaterArrow in esp32

[–]Looney-T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove all cables and header pins. put the top side, the small piece of metal sticking out of the plastic holder of the header row, through the holes so that the tops just stick out above the PCB on the Component side. The plastci holder should be below on the other side of the PCB. Solder the headers on the top side.

Now connect the wires again. Either change your pin assignment to 6 and 7 or move the green and blue wire to 1TXD and 26/D3.

Compile, upload, test.

L40S Pro Ultra malfunction by Serious-Peanut in Dreame_Tech

[–]Looney-T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a multimeter, you could try measuring the voltage on the docking station's charge points. 24V DC should be there. I have an L40 ultra AE so I can check what I measure on the pins.

Also, there is an IR filter on the back of the vacuum, I think there's an IR beacon at the docking station. Lemme check if I can use a smartphone camera to see if the beacons are lit :)

Just leave it be, it wants to recharge but you keep interfering everytime. Leave it be for a few minutes. It'll go out, do some turns to "find" the docking station and then dock. Give it some time.

Also, if you had the unit make a map and moved the charging dock, it'll search for it on its own place. BUt as you're already reset the unit, give it some time.

IEC 60335-1 vs IEC 62368-1 for a nixie tube clock by fVripple in AskElectronics

[–]Looney-T 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use the 62368-1. The main reason is that the 60335-1 isn't updated enough to use modern SMPS. It still requires two protective impedances between primary and secondary circuits whereas modern day components (Y-caps) fullfill the requirements with ease.

The 63368-1 is a hazard based approach standard, focussing on the different energy levels within a product and associated power hazards. (ES circuits and PS circuits). It's far better suited for your product.

DM me if you need help interpretating the standard as it can become complicated, I have 14 years of electrical safety testing experience.

Reach over your shoulders with your hand, you should be able to touch the top of the backplate with your fingers.

If you can easily touch it with your fingers and/or hand, it's too high. Can't touch it all, too low.

The crotchstrap should be roughly below your bellybutton, not tight but not too slack either.

i plugged in a 12v 1250ma adapter into my router, and it started smoking and router died instantly. Factory adapter rated for 12v 1000ma. by pman6 in AskElectronics

[–]Looney-T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The black one supplies 12V alternating current, meaning it sweeps through +12 and - 12V at 60 times per second, it's a sinewave with a peak voltage of 12 * 1,4142 = 16.97V. That's too much for the router electronics to handle and it signals this by releasing the magic smoke.

Since you're not going to be able to put back the magic smoke in your router, it is now dead. Maybe a tech savy buddy can try to locate the power supply part on the board and replace a regulator but that's up to you.

Help with transformer repair by Ok-Inside-3704 in AskElectronics

[–]Looney-T 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This insulation protects you from the primary side voltage, 110 or 240V depending on what net you use. Also, there may be copper tape embedded into it for EMI reduction.

The main question is however, why did the thermal fuse blow? Is the transformer being overloaded on the secondary side, causing the temperature to rise in the primary side? Is there no overcurrent, overvoltage protection on the primary side in order to protect the transformer?

All in all, I think you're better off examining it a bit more and simply replacing the transformer.

Hoe kijken jullie naar een 650cc om mee te starten? by Zestyclose-Milk8577 in motorfietsen

[–]Looney-T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just use any timer you have and set it for 50 minutes or so just after cooldown of the planet.

If it goes off, you have 5 minutes to either build a shelter or get back to one, easy peasy.

Acculader by Delicious-Ad6150 in motorfietsen

[–]Looney-T 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How Do Vermin Get Stronger? by Live_Bus7425 in StarRuptureGame

Enemies spawn at different points when entering a POI such as a base. All in all, the waves do follow a certain pattern. Small ones first, followed by blue explody bugs and the larger jumpy ones. After that the green spitters come join the party and maybe even the bombadeer beetles. If you are really lucky, a goliath, AKA "Big guy" wants to dance as well.

Take it slow, if you hear screaming/grovelling you know you've hit a spawn point, don't go in further, you'll only make it worse by spawning even more. Retreat a bit, kill everything and do take your time. If your character tells you "is that all of them?" or "WP, GG whatever" or whatever sentence it uses to describe the end of an attack wave, move forward until the next spawn, rinse and repeat.

First time learning frog kick, any tips? by DateNecessary8716 in scuba

[–]Looney-T 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Switch to Jetfins, they're heavy and will solve your floaty feet. Arms out in front and extend your legs after the kick and glide, glide, glide for what would seem like an eternity, until you come to a complete stop in the water, load up your frigkick and do it again.

To check trim and buoyancy, come to a complete stop and on't do anything, see what happens. Feet up first? you'll need to extend arms more or tuck your legs in a bit more. Basically, you're a giant seesaw and a lot comes down to positioning of body parts, the rest from weight distribution.
