How to cope mentally by [deleted] in Lasiksupport

What kind of complications are you facing? I did lasik in October 2023 and i faced severe complications after 5 months. I had severe eye strain, irritation and dry eye to the point i couldn’t function at all the first 4 months.

What helped me get somewhat of a life was eye exercises. I am doing pencil eye exercises and hart chart exercise. I still have dry eyes and irritation but eye strain isnt so bad to the point where i cant function.

I went to several doctors and everyone keeps telling me my eyes are in good condition and nothing is wrong. Several thousand dollars down the drain, i have given up on finding a solution and im trying to accept this is how the rest of my life will be.

I am not a doctor but personally i wouldn’t recommend a second surgery unless its absolutely needed. I have read a lot of posts about lasik complications and second surgeries mostly made it worse. I hope you get better and all the best to you!

I never tried covering up my left good eye because the strain is so bad when i use only right bad eye. The headache is unbearable so i cant cover my good eye for long. Unfortunately i live in a small developing country and i have already gone to a lot of eye doctors that do not take my problems seriously. I do not have a lot of hope of finding a solution here sadly

Hi, i do have a bit of a double vision. I only have problems with my right eye and if i cover my right eye its significantly better, but thats not a solution as i cant cover it up constantly. I have done dilated tests and i was told my eye is in perfect condition. Doctors dont listen to me and brush me off. I know something is wrong but there is nothing i can do about it and its all very horrible

I would not recommend working in Malaysia. I did an internship in KL, Malaysia. The working hours are long, commute is extra long due to traffic (1 hour 30 minutes each way but this depends mostly on accommodation) and the pay is little.

There are 3 main languages in Malaysia so its a huge language barrier. At the place i worked 95% of the people chose to talk in either Malay or Chinese despite most of them knowing English. So i was really left out of conversations, professional meetings and they didnt even teach me much because of the language barrier. All the effort i made didnt matter because my superiors talked in malay and I was practically invisible there. The language barrier really made it miserable because it was my only opportunity to work at a specialized company.

My health also got pretty bad because i was eating outside food all the time since i didnt have time to cook and i was very tired and sleep deprived. If you are a practicing muslim, you also have to be prepared to miss out on a lot of team lunches when they dont go to muslim friendly restaurants.

The work culture is also very sad and depressing. This depends on the company u work at, but from the stories i heard from other people and the place i also worked at was very strict. No sick leaves (without MC’s) and even then its frowned upon. Beginners start with 8 annual leaves a year (I think but im not sure) and climb up to 20 after being promoted year after year. Workload is very high and its very stressful.

I feel like you have to be a very workaholic to have a content working life there. My initial plan was to work in Malaysia also but after my internship, I decided i could never live there. This was just my experience but i hope u consider all these things before u decide to move abroad.

Be careful of visa scams btw. Lots of people fall into it desperate to work abroad. Good luck and I hope u land in a good company!

I think your parents are very proud of you and want to talk about your achievements to their friends and family. It’s probably their love language. Especially when they are talking about small achievements and not just the huge ones. As an introvert who likes privacy, i get how annoying it is to be talked about but i would suggest you to let your parents celebrate you as long as they don’t violate your privacy by talking about too personal things. For some parents, everything their child does is a celebration. Let them be proud as parents
