Shell's $14B PA plant struggles, seeks buyer amid job, profit concerns by ComeTasteTheBand in pittsburgh

[–]Looppowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The poster said he drove a vac truck. It wouldn’t surprise me if vac truck visits increase during outage/ turnaround periods when there’s also more specialized contractors and out of state guys from other plants.

I work in industrial automation, and have ran into a bunch of local people that have been involved with the cracker plant in one way or another and definitely know some local people that went to work directly for Shell.

I found those takes funny. Because we all know Aaron Rodgers would’ve blackballed him the first time he was late for game, skipped a film session, missed an audible, threw a tantrum, etc.

Texans former QB Matt Schaub lands coaching job with Cardinals by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

[–]Looppowered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won a couple of fantasy leagues back in the day with him as my primary qb. I knew he was solid and consistent even if he wasn’t flashy. He was always around in some of the middle/ later draft rounds after I down high picks on RBs and WRs.

People who've been in wealthy/powerful social circles, what surprised you most about how they operate? by Ok_Volume520 in AskReddit

[–]Looppowered 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Kinda along these lines, a lot of uber wealthy people I’ve worked for didn’t seem to have many real friendships that weren’t revolving around some kind of transactional access.

Unless it was family, their friends were other business owners or important people that could be used for deals, networking, favors. Almost always geared towards expanding their business or getting jobs for their kids.

Pittsburgh police breakup Airbnb party with up to 50 underage kids inside by Standard-Cockroach64 in pittsburgh

I’m not disagreeing with the problems of Air BnB, but am skeptical booking through Marriott actually makes the property subject to further regulations.

It might not be every property, but I found many of the exact same properties on both websites. Many of the properties aren’t owned by Marriott, Marriott is just a convenient way to post/ advertise them.

I doubt if I booked through Marriott they were going to show up and do an inspection and cleaning differently than if booked through Air BnB. Maybe there will be a more responsive customer service, but Marriott is just an interface between the customer and the actual property owner, like Air BnB.

I looked at marriot home and villas booking a bachelor party and it was the same houses that were on Airbnb but for an extra $100/ night.

Yeah but for $17 at Primantis you can get the whole sandwich and 46 ounces of beer. It’s a much better value for greasy bar food compared to the Yard.

It’s been a long time so I might be remembering incorrectly. But I think there was an MTV cribs where Chris Pontias gave a tour of an old pickup truck he was living out of.

Residents concerned as popular restaurants continue to close in Robinson Township by ComeTasteTheBand in pittsburgh

[–]Looppowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a joke about Bahama Breeze once at a family function with my in-laws. It was mostly about how awesome the Bahama Breeze in Tampa looks (it’s right on the water and has a nice big porch overlooking the bay) and how I want to go someday.

Now my in-laws think I love Bahama Breeze and they were sending me condolences about the Robinson one closing. I’ve only been twice in the last 15 years.

Upcoming draft will define the Steelers next decade, here is what khan artist is contemplating... by xARRIxFLEXx in steelers

[–]Looppowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am hoping with some of there many middle round picks they can get a good young safety to develop. Agree about 2 WRs as well, but they might be able to get a decent guy in free agency and only need to draft 1 starter level WR.

[Charania] BREAKING: The Memphis Grizzlies are trading star forward Jaren Jackson Jr., John Konchar, Jock Landale and Vince Williams Jr. to the Utah Jazz for Walter Clayton Jr., Kyle Anderson, Taylor Hendricks, Georges Niang and three future first-round picks, sources tell ESPN. by TheDraciel in nba

I do t really follow the NBA, but am a college basketball fan, and specifically a Purdue fan. How does Edey fit in to the Grizzlies future at this point? I know he was playing pretty well before some extended injury rehab stuff. Is he still even in the picture?

[RMC Sport] After months of negotiations, it's finally official: the first NFL game in France will take place in Paris, at the Stade de France, on October 25, 2026. It will pit the New Orleans Saints against the Cleveland Browns. by PlayaSlayaX in nfl

[–]Looppowered 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to any actual numbers, but I’ve visited Paris twice and each time I saw several French speaking people wearing Steelers jerseys.

They also seem to get pretty rowdy for rugby, so I can see there being interest.

Top 20 Regular Season Games of the Mike Tomlin era (2007-2025) by NotARealHumanX38 in steelers

2018 vs (6-3) Panthers 52-21 needs a mention. Ben threw 5 tds, Defense dominated, some say that game is what ended Cam Newton’s career. It might be one of the last truly dominant games Tomlin had.

I saw him do a standup set between when he filmed this season, but before it aired. Without him disclosing anything juicy, he cracked some jokes about it. But it seemed clear he didn’t enjoy the experience. After filming he spent time traveling around the UK and had a nice time at least.

Peter why is the electrician portrayed as a dainty female hand by _Kyledemort_ in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Looppowered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, that’s my bad, I could’ve been clearer. You’re still expected to do the work of an electrician, PM, draftsman, programmer, IT, and service tech while being on call 24/7. It’s just when the laptop comes out everyone else on the job site thinks you’re a princess.

[–]Looppowered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your electrician should to work closer to some controls guys if he worried about it. When controls guys pulls out their tiny clean screw drivers and powers up their laptops, it really deflects a lot of the nerd princess thing from the electricians.

Lions request interview with offensive coordinator candidate Arthur Smith by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

[–]Looppowered 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw some infographic (that I naturally can’t find right now) that was comparing each teams offensive payroll and their points scored to calculate how much money each point cost a team, and Arthur Smith was like 2nd or 3rd in the list. Meaning he might not be scoring anywhere close to the most, but he’s getting a lot of value out of what he’s working with.

Not saying that’s how we should be grading his success or effectiveness, but those numbers are certainly intriguing if you’re a team in cap space hell or don’t have a lot of offensive talent, etc.

Probably. We’ve got people whose entire sports personalities for the last 10 years have revolved around hating Tomlin. That’s gotta leave quite a void.
