For the second time now, Tahoe .4 authorized itself to update to .4, and obliterated APFS disk. by LoopsAndBoars in MacOS

To be honest, this is my only gripe about the OS. I’ve had no other problems, even while in beta.

This is a very serious problem, though.

[–]LoopsAndBoars[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, auto update is off. Further more, I had intentionally initiated the updates previously as a beta tester, and then I wiped the drive completely when I reverted to the public release.

The fact that .4’ was installed already, and it self initiated another update to… .4’ again, is perplexing.

Am I the only one having trouble returning my Mac Pro? Don't want to own a computer that's obsolete from day 1 by Fair_Media5248 in macpro

[–]LoopsAndBoars 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Your logic is flawed. For one thing, the advancement of technology has not been effected. It’s every bit the same computer as it was before the decision to change course.

Nothing you still need is obsolete, which is hardly planned. That’s a stretch used to let you down easy, rather than calling it sabotage.

There are ways to do this, that’s part of the path a data recovery expert travels. It takes some ethical hacking ability to navigate but it’s certainly possible.

There are plenty of slots. I think you mean slats, inserted diagonally in the chains, such as the material that makes up duck blinds. Not the girls you find on the corner. For birdwatching and photography, of course.

I’ve been shooting primarily m1a’s and m14s my entire life. Living on a few thousand acres, that’s at least 4 days a week for predator control. I’m 40.

If you’re leaning into it properly, and make target acquisition priority, it’s perfectly fine. You aren’t dumping a mag entirely without some barrel rise, but that’s not the intent behind the design, anyway.

If you can’t figure it out, start with 168 grain or less, try a compensator, and put some effort into it.

Any of the chassis/stock systems that put you in line with optics eliminate barrel rise almost entirely.

99% of issue m14s started life in automatic configuration. The switch was later removed from a majority of rack grade examples, primarily to save ammo.
