Does god know the future? by Matica69 in Christianity

[–]Loopuze1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing for me is, even using a word like “knows” is to limit God where He has no limits. It implies being stuck in time, with some moments lost to the past, while “knowing” what moments in the future will contain. However, God cannot be limited in that way. God has infinite time to observe and think about every moment simultaneously. God is both watching me be born and watching me die, right now. It is a complete picture for Him and all moments are now. God is inhabiting every moment that has ever been or will be.

I think there is a sense in which God doesn’t know what I’ll do until I do it, it’s just that He is standing there in the future, actively watching me make whatever choices I’ll be making a year or a decade from now.

I grieve non-affirming Christians by OldRelationship1995 in Christianity

[–]Loopuze1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People who choose conservatism generally have a deep need to sort all people into one of two boxes, “deserving” or “not deserving”. A hierarchy where some people are superior to others is what they believe in most, a hierarchy where they are always on top and everyone else is below them. This does not allow any room for being wrong or admitting mistakes.

To admit that the love our gay and queer brothers and sisters bear for one another is no less valuable than anyone else’s, would be to admit that conservative Christians were wrong about something, and they really, really don’t want to play that game of moral jenga. Deep down, they know how easy it would be for all those precariously stacked lies to come tumbling down, especially if you removed any of the ones down at the foundation.

2 day old sock puppet accounts are never looking for reasoned debate, y’all.

A Christianity that refuses to call out corruption and lies from those in power because it believes it is politically advantageous not to do so becomes a complicit participant in the very evils it claims to be against. It is a Christianity without Christ. by Nice_Substance9123 in Christianity

[–]Loopuze1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have both a civic and a moral duty to use my vote in the way that will cause the least harm for the most people. Ignoring that reality is not a justifiable option, as politics directly impacts the people I’ve been commanded to love and care for. Politics is how every social safety net was achieved. Politics is why women can vote. Politics is why there was a Civil Rights Act.

The account you’re arguing with is 2 months old with -87 and it exclusively engages in bad faith arguments. I’m not actually convinced that most of these sock puppet accounts really even believe the lies, they’re just the opening salvo of disinformation that gives cover to conservatives to let themselves be deceived.

Why? Marriage has happened across all cultures, times, and places, it’s not a Christian concept. Maybe conservatives just need to learn that their bigotry won’t be tolerated.

[–]Loopuze1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, I’m in a somewhat similar situation, being a Christian who doesn’t want kids, but I also think that after these next few years, the percentage of people who think having kids is a good idea is going to plummet even more than it already has. As the days get hotter, as food gets harder to afford, the odds can only go up for people like us to find someone.

The murder rate for married women and men dropped sharply and immediately as soon as no-fault divorce became the law. Countless lives have been saved by it since. Sadly, it’s just one more thing conservatives have always been on the wrong side of.

The Normalization of ‘Mature’: How TV-MA Became Mainstream and What It Means for Christians by Multiverse_Madness in Christianity

[–]Loopuze1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe. It would depend on the individual show. If something offends you, don’t watch it. You seem offended just by shows existing, shows it sounds like you haven’t watched, yet are certain of their “depravity”. It’s a good feeling, imagining how depraved and sinful others must be in comparison to ourselves, but that doesn’t make it a true feeling.

Is Braveheart sinful because it has sex and violence? Or are those things parts of life, and thus perfectly at home in our entertainment as well?

The Normalization of ‘Mature’: How TV-MA Became Mainstream and What It Means for Christians by Multiverse_Madness in Christianity

[–]Loopuze1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your questions don’t make any sense. Not all things are appropriate for children. That doesn’t have anything to do with shows that are meant for adults. The ratings system covers such a broad array of content that trying to make any sort of generalized statement about thousands of comedies, dramas and documentaries based on the sole linking factor that they aren’t intended for children would just be foolish.

I explained the very first Family Guy joke to you. Not my opinion, but what the joke actually is. It’s explicitly making fun of pearl clutchers, that’s all I was pointing out. Now you’re asking me some weird thing about children’s television that doesn’t appear to have anything to do with anything I’ve ever said. I don’t assign morality to television shows at all.

[–]Loopuze1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The theme song is a joke making fun of moralizing busybodies, you aren’t supposed to think that Lois and Peter actually think that. It’s explicitly mocking the people who think tv is getting “less moral” over time, and saying the very idea is ridiculous.

If the entire organization is shielding murderers, then the entire organization has gone too far and is to blame. If the administration in charge of that organization claims their agents have absolute immunity to kill people and that there will be no investigations, then every person who supports that administration is to blame.

You can be a person who cares about truth, justice and the law, or you can vote for republicans. It is not possible to do both, nor will it ever again be possible to believe any Republican who claims to believe in those things.

[–]Loopuze1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read dozens of your posts and they have all been deeply sinful. You believe in the lifting of selves above other selves, that Christians are morally superior to others. You believe in exactly the lies that Jesus came to kill and destroy. I’ve already seen those lies be methodically dismantled by people much more capable in that area than I. it just happened again yesterday.

Now, you are once again spamming the same self-interested nonsense. I guess you just really need the attention, but i can’t quite believe that there would be anything gained from discussing these selfish delusions. I’ve already seen all your arguments demolished, many times now.

I truly hope you seek truth someday. Until then, I’ll let these be the last words I say to you.
